Started getting reminder emails from the CA Department of Tax and Fee Administration. The emails look legit but no idea how I got on their mail list!

Wondering if anyone else is getting these?

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is sending you an important due date reminder:

  • If you have a Sales and Use Tax, Use Tax, or eWaste return to file, your return is due on the last day of the month.

Chuck your email in the pwned facebook hack check...

Expect to get NZ fake ones come the end of the month. They target known end of financial terms.

My kosher reminder to file came through last week.  The only click-through link within is one to report a phishing attempts.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

I don't think I've seen them target the notice to file ones.

But you sure start seeing the refund after file ones in the near future with a 'login' link.

My filing reminder email also came through last week but Gmail thought it was spam and put it in my spam folder.

Actually, there were no links in the email - that one was Gmail being "helpful" and turning the email that IRD put into it into a link. IRD follows best practice for common phishing targets by never putting links into transactional emails - like PayPal used to, and I think Westpac still does.
