SJB:Geektastic:SJB:Farage must be one of the happiest people to have ever made themselves redundant.
If ever a man deserved a peerage...!
I wouldn't go quite that far....

If you read any of the press or political commentators in the UK not one mentions any backing out. It's inconceivable.
It's done and dusted.

Tens of millions of voters have expressed their wish and, although it's sort of close, there is a clear result with no margin of error in large actual numbers. It would be stupid of Cameron personally and bad for the country as a whole if he tried to tough it out.
Tens of millions have voted the other way as well. Something as monumental as this should not be decided on a margin of 3%. The impacts, costs and ramifications of this are world affecting and a much larger majority should be required to impact so many lives.
That is the Westminster system, the referendum was a first past the post. With democracy you pitch your case and let the voters decide, rightly or wrongly it's the majority vote that decides unless you state in advance probably by special legislation that a change requires say a 70/30 majority to succeed.
It's mind boggling to consider that they didn't require a 66% majority to pass.
I wonder when they start to try and work out "deals" with EU, and people realize what they have done, if there is a path to retreat for them?
But isn't this just a referendum? Not binding?
Legally and technically not binding. Politically and morally very binding.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Geektastic:
Not binding.... Unless you want a civil war.
yes ...
Unlike NZ UK politicians generally still have honour. They follow the Westminster system not just say they do. Ministers will actually resign, and PM's honour votes. Mr Cameron will full fill the wishes of the majority
even if its his last act.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Between this, Trump, lots going on in the world.

Cameron will speak on TV3 in the next few minutes.
Odds he resigns?
Btw, is Paddy Gower drunk?

The British Stock Market is basically in freefall. The FTSE 100 has shed 527 points or over 8% in the last 11 minutes. And some shares are still not open for trading.

Stocks generally go down towards the end of the week. I feel these will bounce back as early as next week.

Presumably then if remain had won by 3% that shouldn't have been binding either.
Well one generally considers spending trilions of dollars to exit over retaining the status quo, then no. Since it's not binding, the comment from parliament should be "We held a referendum and whilst a small majority voted in favour, there isn't enough public interest to consider exiting given the huge ramifications and therefore we have decided as your elected government, to not continue down this path".
The opposition can then campaign on how they will exit if they are elected, and when the election is held, which IS binding, the people can TRULY make their choice.

He needs three things...
1. A new hair style, hang on a hair style
2. A new suit

Interesting looking at the breakdown by locality. Most of the big economic areas of England voted to stay in (Greater London, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester Liverpool). It really is scary how much extremists like Farage (and Trump) seem to be able to influence people with their agendas.
Also interesting to look at the age breakdowns. With the vast majority of under 30's voting for stay, with numbers shifting to leave the older they get.
It would appear that Remain was the preference for those under 50 and Leave was the preference of the 50+ age groups.
HOW AGES VOTED
(YouGov poll)
18-24: 75% Remain
25-49: 56% Remain
50-64: 44% Remain
65+: 39% Remain
Hopefully Scotland and Northern Island who voted remain, can escape the English madness.
