I've not been impressed with my first use of Youshop.

I bought two BT devices for my cars from Amazon. The package size is 15*9*6cm using Youshop's calculations giving it a package weight of 0.136 and yet I've been charged the best part of $30 because they have set the package size as 26*18*14cm....twice the size of the actual package.

I cant read the past 99 pages so is this normal ?

You won't know till you get the item. Amazon often adds extra packaging and boxes.

Really ? Bugger. I want to buy a Chromebook but I'm nervous now as to how much that would cost to ship.

Check the Amazon Chromebook page. Some of the models ship directly to New Zealand.

Thanks, I only want one of the cheap C720's and they don't unfortunately.

Just had notification from FedEx that my parcel has been delivered to YouShop, hoping to use the YSlap 25 discount as today is the last day. What are the chances of it being loaded to my YouShop account before midnight, bit of a rhetorical question really.

Also does anyone know if the 30th November cut off is NZ time or USA time?

I am in the same situation- my parcel arrived at YS this morning (NZ time). I suspect the cutoff is NZ time- I would be fairly surprised if it was USA time. Given that there are no working hours in Oregon before midnight NZ time (unless YS works 24 hrs) I suspect we are out of luck for using the code. This seems fairly crappy given our parcel were delivered before or on the the 30th of Nov and it is only YS's slow processing of our parcels which has prevented us from using the code.

Right, an Acer C720 order through the GZlink, lets see what the postage ends up at.

I did read on the YouShop site they will only repackage an item if the volumetric weight is > 2kgs than the actual weight. So I would guess that means anything small is highly unlikely to be repackaged no matter how big the box its been put in.

I just got an HP Stream 13" Notebook. Shipping was $41 including the $6 insurance cover.

This was from the Microsoft store - So it will be interesting to see how Amazon pack your 11"

You've misinterpreted the wording.

If the volumetric weight is 2kg's or more greater than the actual weight, they'll repack it.
So a pack of cards in a fridge box will definitely be repacked, but the same pack of cards in a shoe box will be borderline for repacking.

Wow - my parcel has been added to my YouShop account - cool - I thought until I saw the price.  Have they put the prices up recently?  I have all the tracking details from FedEx with weight and dimensions and the cost I get is around $72 for YouShop, now that the parcel has arrived the cost has blown out to $112.25.  I have had 18 parcels go through YouShop and have never seen this discrepancy.

YouShop states that the parcel weighs 10.1kg - FedEx says 6.3Kg, the dimensions on both are correct.  The items I have purchased all up weigh 5.5kg so even with the weight of the box and packaging I fail to see how it can blow out to 10.1kg.

FedEx

You Shop

There is no way what I have ordered even with packaging is 10.1kg.  I will pay for the parcel as I want the 25% discount which ends today but will be checking it carefully when it arrives.  I know how the company I have purchased from packs and they do not use bricks as packing.

I guess there is always the possibility the company I purchased from has sent the wrong goods - or packed more than I ordered.  Thought that the FedEx weight would have shown higher though (unless of course FedEx is using volumetric).

I just weighed five of the items I have here at home and they weigh 1.1kg each - that's all that's in the box.  Confused and soon to be poor.

Nil Einne: Have a friend who just signed up for Youshop. Am I right that the only current discount codes regardless new customers or not, are the Black Friday one, Blackfri235 15% expiring on the 15th, the YSLap25 one expiring tomorrow. Both these are single use. And the Westpacdebit only for people with Westpac Debit Mastercard and 10%, expiring end of year but multiple use.

Cheers

Only current December code

Compared to what was hinted at, a one use code for 15% is pretty weak. However I'll take it
True combined shipping would have been good by now.

@middle earth . Maybe the fedex weight is volumetric. And the boxing weighs 4kg. If it's double boxed it can add up.
