Easily arranged - argue that pollen should exercise personal responsibility and sort itself out, post pictures of pollen throughout the media with sky TV dish and Winfield packets in background, and get government department responsible for eradication of pollen to stop counting it. Problem? What problem?

"H" plates on trucks.

I thought that rule was brought in as "special" exemption to allow longer/heavier trucks to use certain roads. Yesterday I got stuck behind a convoy of 3 milk tankers on SH1, all with "H" plates. What was sold to the public as a needed exception in some special cases seems to have become the norm.

The "H" plates can be a bit confusing. They are allowed to display the plates all the time, even if they are not using the exemption at that time, so a truck that is allowed to be heavier than normal MUST display the "H" when they are heavily loaded and MAY display the "H" plate at other times, even if they are empty.

This still doesn't make it less annoying that you are stuck behind a convoy.

Why can't they just be honest, you are placing an order, no different to any other time you are buying from the company.

Bigger heavier trucks stuff the road surface much faster, longer trucks are harder to pass, but there should be some kind of compensation to the poor motorist by way of fewer large trucks than more small ones, but it doesn't seem to have worked out that way either.

SWMBO wanted to watch something on Netflix last night on the TV in our bedroom that we seldom use.

Switched TV to the chromecast input, and there's a message that it couldn't connect to our WIFI. That's right - I changed the password a couple of months ago.

Fire up Netflix app on phone and oops - forgot that I'd had to change the password there too. Netflix app doesn't come up with a message saying incorrect password, just that it couldn't connect. Took a minute or two to figure that I had to "log out" even though I wasn't "logged in", then reenter the new password. Phew - sorted.

Load cast app to sort out wifi, enter new password, thought I was good to go. But no - the Chromecast was visible, but came up with an error when I tried to cast to it. Cast app says it needs to update the device, which it does, rather slowly I thought, requiring two reboots.

Finally it's working. SWMBO was sound asleep.

French champagnes, $800 red wines, expensive cognac and 18-year-old whisky have all gone down the drain at the Christchurch Police Station.

About $20,000 worth of confiscated booze was tipped out on Thursday, made up of 52 litres of spirits, 154 litres of wine and 137 litres of beer.

How absolutely ridiculous. Flushing the stuff down the drain makes no difference whatsoever to the problems caused by alcohol, but they could have used the money to actually make a positive difference to someones life.

It also looks like they poured it down stormwater, rather than into the sewage system.

Your bigger heavier H trucks have additional wheels, usually an extra axle. So no extra pavement loading. Bridges etc. have been strengthened to cope where required. If it wasn't three H tankers it would have been four (probably overweight) tankers doing damage to the road. I know what I'd choose.
