Handsomedan:

Ordering something from a store that is 20min drive away and opting to pay for the delivery fee as I'm working.

Receive an email 3 days after ordering to confirm the order - OK, they are in the middle of a 60% off summer sale. I can take that delay.

Receive an email the following day after that to tell me that my item has shipped.

Courier delays we can understand to some degree but a store needs to get things out the door asap. I order pet food from Akld and that store turns an order into a courier package in the same afternoon = 👍👍

In comparison, I just got this email from gearstore about an order:

While we do experience occasional delays in dispatch and delivery, we're actually pretty speedy most of the time. After dispatch, around 92% of our orders zoom out the door within 5 days. In the South Island 79% of those arrive in 2 days. And for the North Island 85% of orders make it in 5 days.

Well, for starters, dispatch IS the zooming out the door part but what is the store doing for up to 5 days before that?

Had something similar with a DigiKey order, ordered Sunday evening, delivered today, and the shipping was free.

If you order something in stock before the last courier collection that day it should be in that collection. If not, then in the first one the next day.

Anything else is lazy.

Hamilton City Council with their upside down roading philosophy around, in lane bus stops, cycle lanes and silly "raised crossings" where there is no pedestrian pathway.

Dumb ideas wasting rate payer money.

Companies who aren’t capable of manning their phones during their stated hours.

LicenSys starts work at 0830. I’ve rung them every minute since and they’ve still got a message up saying I’m calling outside their office hours of 0830 until 1700.

I’m not. Answer the phone!!

What’s the bet when you eventually get through to them you’ll be speaking with an Aussie.

Having worked somewhere where we had the opposite (Kiwis asnwering the AU calls) I can say it's a constant issue with making sure staff are available at the right times.

Speaking of wasting money. I was very annoyed this morning to see taxpayers spent $228 + ~10M to lay exactly 0 meters of light rail.  Only in Government can you spend $240M, get nothing, and stay out of prison!

Did all of that go on consultants? Is there any breakdown of expenses?

You're certainly right, but sometimes it's better if they don't do anything for money. 🤣

I eventually got LicenSys on the phone.

I was chasing up a plate I’d requested on 24 January and which they’d acknowledged in writing that day.

No record of it. Order not initiated. Nada.

“Yeah, nah. Sorry about that. It’ll take 15 days.”

Useless.

From the most transparent government ever? Not this side of hell freezing over.

Regardless of what it was spent on, we have nothing to show for it.
