timmmay:

All in all this was my worst youshop experience. Losing the parcel, taking around two weeks to find it, notable poor and apathetic service from NZPost. From the date it arrived at the US warehouse to arriving at my house, using the economy option, was one month. From the date I paid youshop it took 7 days to get to me in Wellington, which is pretty good.

Given I've had 20 good experiences and one poor experience I'll keep using youshop. I'll probably consider using ShipItTo for higher value parcels or things I want more quickly - I used them once and found their service and processes to be exceptional, particularly around photographing everything, and with great tracking and progress indicators. They cost a bit more though, and will only send small things via the US Postal Service, but otherwise use all the big courier companies.

I avoid YS where possible. Too slow, too unfriendly, and most of all far too expensive. A lot of Amazon stuff is shippable to NZ now and when this is available, much cheaper. A lot of eBay also shippable to NZ and ex China stuff often free shipping. I recently ordered a ski helmet from eBay Germany which is somewhat bulky in it's box. Shipped to NZ *fast* for about 12 euro.

Beginning to look like they've moved from Timmmay on to me - parcel delivered to Youshop US on 15th Oct, paid for an hour(ish) later, expected shipping date 18th, still apparently in the warehouse awaiting shipment as of today (27th).

Emailed YS on Wednesday and they've apparently contacted the warehouse - haven't heard back though.

Possibly, but I usually blame the Martians, think they were the ones who used to hide your tools so you could never find them then when you've almost given up there they are exactly where you left them...maybe they moved on to Youshop parcels

Those tools never went anywhere - they were there all the time. But when you put down tools they acquire temporary invisibility.

I sit corrected, never thought of the invisibility thing, possibly the result of an illicit rendezvous between said Martian and a leading character from the world of Harry Potter...

I bought Anker earphones from Amazon earlier this year and had them shipped via Youshop. They recently developed a fault which Anker have accepted and agreed to replace. They've given me a domestic freepost label for the US, but obviously that won't work here in NZ. Does anyone know if I can send it back to Youshop and have them post it back to Anker, or do I have to look at shipping it directly to Anker?

Nope, you'll have to post back to Anker yourself.

Good luck with that, it won't be cheap. I sent an electric Toothbrush back to Amazon tracked and it was $68nz not cheap. Intl shipping is so dam expensive in NZ. Luckily Amazon refunded me $68US :-)

They've finally managed to ship it. Yay. Didn't take long at all.

Shipped back to Anker via NZ Post International Air for $14.  With shipping from YouShop at $12.50 for the replacement earphones, it's still cheaper than buying new all over again.  Only downside is having to wait for shipping there and then for the replacements to ship back.  Fortunately, I have another pair of headphones I can use in the meantime.

Will YouShop (US Warehouse) accept something with a 6000 mAh battery in it?

Their FAQ covers this, but in a way that's not easy to understand. A lithium-ion battery must not exceed 20 Wh/cell, or 100 Wh per battery/pack.

This calculator says 6000mah @ 5V is 30 watt hours. Given it's a single cell I think it's prohibited. Note the assumption of 5V.

So far so good with my latest YouShop US parcel. I got an email saying I had a parcel on the same day FedEx delivered it, and by that evening the parcel had left the YouShop warehouse and was on its way to me.

I'd picked the faster of the two shipping methods, and paid for shipping within a couple of hours of the email to let me know a parcel had arrived.
