Started watching Utopia last night; not the Amazon Prime series, but an ABC series that started in 2014 - it's the same team behind Frontline, if anyone remembers that, and is very much in the same vein as that or The Games (John Clarke's series about the Sydney Olympics.

Looks like it'll be the perfect follow-on after watching something full-on or brain-intensive prior to bedtime - we had been using Community for that, but we've found the recent episodes (towards the end of S3) have kinda jumped the shark.

And, although I know it's been mentioned prior, another plug for Breeders, created by and starring Martin Freeman et al: must-watch viewing for anyone with kids and probably a great recommendation for those you're trying to scare off having them! We've just finished season two, but I read they've signed up for a third season.

Have been watching "Covid - The Soap Opera" screened on TV1 at 1pm most days.

Currently up to Series 2, Episode 10.

Plot contains the usual elements, suspense, disappointments, hope and despair, medical dramas, occasional comic relief. Has unique choreography - most scenes feature interesting mime artists performing their routines on the side.
Cast has occasional character changes, the overall theme is somewhat dystopian, at the conclusion of each episode, desperados compete for the attention of the main characters.

10/10 (Never thought I'd become addicted to daytime TV)

Mrs Penguino found Twin Peaks on neon.
After a few minutes it's clear it's a reboot/continuation of Twin Peaks from the first time round. I wasn't a watcher back in the day but I got lots of fill in comments like that's one legged man, that's log lady, and so on.

I've seen a couple of David lynch movies so I know he has his own style. However, I had forgotten just how batshit crazy some of his style can be.
He likes casting actors with very 'interesting' faces and bodies so you'll see something other than your usual Hollywood beauty parade.
It's intriguing viewing tho, mystery and double dealing with a big dose of the supernatural.

Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

I watched the first episode because the premise sounded pretty interesting - but the "Tough cop from Nooo Yoick" seemed far to heavy. It really put me off.

Does it get better?

Struggling through it. Some unshaven bum playing one of New York's finest is a dud note.

After three so-so episodes, 27 August "Real Time with Bill Maher" was good front-to-back.

The Afghanistan train-wreck made for an interesting discussion.

Even the token Conservative panelist was good.

"Covid - The Soap Opera" normally follows Emmerdale and I have to say that most times I haven't noticed the transition and have assumed it's just another story line.

Didn't think it was worth starting a new thread, so when it comes to watching TV shows (a bit, not really) I see that Britain's fave TV theme tune is Inspector Morse, still up there after 34 years. Pity Thunderbirds is down at number 19. And Sherlock, apparently top in 2019 is not even in the top 20. Oh the fickle vicissitudes of, well, something or other...

It might have been out for a while now - not sure, I have just found it.

I have started watching Brave New World on TVNZ OnDemand.

9/10 so far.

Based on a classic American Novel which I have only heard the name of, never read.

Sci-Fi set in the future where the UK is a high tech "paradise" with no privacy, sadness or other bad emotions.
Everyone in in their place and happy. Well not everyone it seems.

Then there is the savages lands with quant rituals, like monogamy, jealousy and anger.

Enjoying it a lot. You can see how having a classic novel to base it on has given it an excellent plot.

Good acting and CGI to round out the package.

Ted Lasso, what a fantastic, amazing TV series. The world really needs a bit more of this stuff I think. It reminds me a little of Better Off Ted (If you likely comedy scifi, family friendly, and wholesome, watch it, it's great).

Season 2 Episode 4 was really one of the most fantastic episodes of TV I've seen in a long long time. I loved it.

Raised By Wolves - NEON 8-9/10 (haven't decided yet)

Androids are tasked with raising human children on a mysterious planet.

I have only watch the first 3 of 10 episodes of series 1 and I am thoroughly enjoying this series which I started watching last night. You can see that Ridley Scott and his son Luke, has had a hand in this production with his typical atmospheric sets (Blade Runner comes to mind). The concept is very innovative and the acting from everyone, including the lead children, is all very polished. As I said the sets are great. I just hope it continues in this excellent vein.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Tried to watch Bordertown as suggest. Sorry, can't stand a good police mystery that suddenly adds a crook politician that wants to run a casino as a twist.

Stopped at the end of the first episode.

Just started watching Vigil - looks like it will be excellent. It’s a British police procedural six-part miniseries starring Suranne Jone, Martin Compston and Rose Leslie. The plot is in part inspired by the conspiracy theories surrounding the sinking of the FV Gaul - a Scottish fishing trawler.

The mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on-board the fictional Vanguard class submarine HMS Vigil brings the police into conflict with the Royal Navy and British security services.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Yours is an interesting question though. There seems to be differences of opinion here as to whether some types of access should be discussed in this thread - and that's why I didn't say where/how we saw it. Some sort of FUG thing?
