Just started watching Vigil - looks like it will be excellent. It’s a British police procedural six-part miniseries starring Suranne Jone, Martin Compston and Rose Leslie. The plot is in part inspired by the conspiracy theories surrounding the sinking of the FV Gaul - a Scottish fishing trawler.

The mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on-board the fictional Vanguard class submarine HMS Vigil brings the police into conflict with the Royal Navy and British security services.

Yup love it, seen the first 2 episodes now. 9/10 just for the first two.

Made by the same people who did in the line of duty.

freitasm: Where is it available?

BBC - first episode aired just a few days ago.

Yours is an interesting question though. There seems to be differences of opinion here as to whether some types of access should be discussed in this thread - and that's why I didn't say where/how we saw it. Some sort of FUG thing?

You can say if it's not available in the country. That's all.

Just finished Killing Eve season 2 on TVNZ on Demand

There's actually quite a bit of content on TVNZ on Demand - a lot of stuff they don't bother to put on primetime free to air (i.e. not reality show). Their new app is pretty slick too. While nowhere near the same amount of content as Netflix, Neon, Disney or Amazon Prime I'm quite surprised with what is on there.

Anyway I've been meaning to watch this for a while - Jodie Comer does an exceptional job and deserves the Emmy she won for her role. The first few episodes of the first season were excellent but the season second is turning less of a thriller and more of a soapy, relationship drama which isn't as good. I hope season 3 returns back to the spy thriller espionage roots.

networkn:

Ted Lasso, what a fantastic, amazing TV series. The world really needs a bit more of this stuff I think. It reminds me a little of Better Off Ted (If you likely comedy scifi, family friendly, and wholesome, watch it, it's great).

Season 2 Episode 4 was really one of the most fantastic episodes of TV I've seen in a long long time. I loved it.

My wife got 12 months Apple TV sub that came with her new iphone she got a few months ago. Couldn't chromecast it so I wasn't too interested but discovered my Android TV had the Apple TV app so signed in there and started watching this.

Trailers made it look like your typical fish out of water, bumbling yank in the UK type of show but based on your post I thought I'd give it a go. There's real warmth and depth in the characters and I'm really enjoying it, so much that I'm torn between watching more episodes of this and Killing Eve season 3 (TVNZ on demand).

Haven't watched anything else on Apple TV yet - there's a couple of other shows I might try but overall not really impressed with what's on there . Most of it seems to be you have to pay to watch.

If you click on the Apple TV+ channel on the Apple TV app, you'll see all the "free" stuff.

I can recommend the excellent network TV drama "The Morning Show" and there are a few other things I have seen that I enjoyed, but your tastes may be a little different to mine.

Also there's "Greyhound" a big budget movie starring Tom Hanks, set in WW2, onboard a destroyer - also very good.

Rick & Morty wraps up Season 5 on Netflix

The last two episode were delayed. It's the first double-length episode in the show's history.

It's a bit dense in backstory, and there's lots of blood and gore.

Here's an official teaser

We are lady parts - On Neon.

Only 6 x 30m episodes and hilarious.

Its the story of a Muslim female punk band looking for a lead guitarist - set in the UK. Lots of real laugh out moments and a great cast.

The music isn't bad either.

Hope they get another series.

One of the best things we've seen in ages.  It's a wee bit out there, but totally hilarious and with a great ending.  I felt like staying sat in front of the TV waiting for series 2.  An absolute must see.

Another very funny, but sometimes dark, series is Two Weeks To Live.  The lead character has a Killing Eve Villanelle vibe about her.  A bizarre takeaway from this is that Jason Flemyng — who played Tom in Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels — is in it and looks like an old man. I couldn't help but compare him with Jason Stratham who appears to have aged considerably better.

I just checked Wikipedia.  Jason Flemyng is 55, and Jason Stratham 54.

it was good ! nice conclusion to the series.

unlike Y the last man, the original spource material was no great shakes but this tv adaptation is utter drivel.

stupifying.

the story and pace picks up a bit by episode 3 but by then i couldn't care less and switched off.

avoid.

We've just discovered Home Economics on TVNZ on Demand.

It stars Topher Grace amongst others and is an American sitcom about three siblings (who have vastly different career paths and wealth) and their families all living in the Bay Area (San Francisco).

It started OK, but has gotten better and has had some actual laugh out loud moments (as well as the typical cringeworthy moments), but the supporting cast often steal the show (such as Lupe, the maid).

We're about 4 episodes in and fairly hooked now.
