Am about to test youshop and the new policy.

Have had to send my radar unit back to the US as its faulty. If they send a replacement or repair, they will only send to a US address so have used youshop. Custom's website says no GST is chargeable on repair / warranty replacements provided proof is provided (which I have kept copies of all things) but I wonder what youshops policy is

Got my email from Youshop yesterday they had received the radar unit at the warehouse and it was prompting me to enter in parcel value etc. I just keyed in $1 as the value and then uploaded my return details (export doc, warranty return form) and paid the shipping and GST on the $1. It all went through and rec'd confirmation this morning that goods have been posted.

Really not sure if anyone at Youshop checked the details of the package or if simply the fact I had entered in a $1 value and paid the shipping charges, the system simply prompted the release of the package. Either way, I'm happy enough.

Bought an item off ebay that was USD $780 + $10 shipping to YouShop. YouShop charged $178.46 for GST, $63.25 customs brokerage fees, $52.67 import entry fees and $70.16 for 5 - 9 days shipping ($364 odd total). I had to upload the PayPal invoice in PDF since I could not see any option within eBay to download an invoice.

"$63.25 customs brokerage fees"

Why did you use Youshop broker? Also did you not have to supply your client code for importing goods over 1k ?

YouShop did not give me any option to select anything else in regards to a different broker or enter my customs client code in any fields. I do have a personal customs client code so once it does lands in NZ and I receive a phone call, I can provide customs with that information. As soon as I entered the goods total, it displayed the GST to pay. Once you clicked on complete payment then it displays the IETF and brokerage fees on that screen and grand total. Only thing you can modify is your shipping speed costs.

Something's not quite right, you should be able to use your own customs broker or not one at all, as in you don't have to use a broker to import goods, I notice you did everything yourself anyway, you gave them your invoice and plus you have your client code all sorted, so what did Youshops broker actually do for that "fee" as what exactly was the services rendered to you?

I don't believe YouShop have ever given the option to use your own broker for imports over $1000 - ie they'll always assumed you want to use to use them which means they'll collect GST / IETF and of course charge their brokerage fee.

Not according to their Website. In fact, it states to e-mail them to nominate them to act as the broker.

My YouShop parcel has arrived in NZ today and when I run a track on it, it shows the below. It states "The parcel or shipment has been assessed by New Zealand Customs and they require an import entry before it is released from our facility".

What does this means anyone knows? I rang NZPost and they reckon (assumption) that YouShop will send through some documentation to customs within next 5 working days and then it should be released.

If you have paid youshop for to act as agents, they should be presenting Customs with the relevant documentation showing all fees (GST, import etc) have been paid and it should be released in due course.

Will take 1-2 days for them to communicate with you, but it all gets processed in due course.

Today is the 6th business day since my parcel has arrived in NZ and been stuck with the same status as above. Have emailed 3 different NZ Post email addresses with all my details including my personal customs client code and twitter support and absolutely no help. I rang them and they said wait 4 days which we are past that as well now and the status and progress of parcel has not changed. Not sure who do I contact further. Last time I am using YouShop for over a $1000 item and will use Shipito next time. DHL & Fed Ex has sorted clearance out for me on same day when it arrives in NZ. Lack of service at NZ Post is appalling.

Still no progress with NZPost/youShop. Same tracking status as before. I have called now numerous times and all the CSR does is sends an email to the department that handles Import entry forms. The CSR can only communicate to them via email. What a totally appalling service and incompetent company NZPost is. Their twitter is no longer replying to DM's either and I can see their twitter account still replying to other user's tracking tweets. I am not sure what else I can do now besides getting the media involved? These guys are hopeless.

Try calling the International Mail Centre directly and see if they can give you the Customs number so you can at least get that paid, then tell NZ Post where to go with their BS service charges.

I believe the number you want is 0800 478 287 option 2

Edit: NZ Post stopped replying to my Facebook messages regarding a package they failed to deliver not once, but five times.

I have already paid YouShop all the customs and GST fees via their portal when it arrived at YouShop at their USA warehouse which was a fair bit of money as shown below. Their leadership team is not on twitter or they have out of date twitter accounts where they still reference their status to their old employers including their IT lead so this is how hopeless the whole situation is. I am going to search linkedin next and see if I can trace any of their leadership team there and send a message.

Edit - I just rang the 0800 478 287 and the NZ Post IVR states, this number is no longer in use. Visit our website to track the item.

I assume you've tried contacting Customs about this issue?

According to the screenshot above, it hasn't even left the YouShop warehouse in the US yet?

Not much customs can do about that.

Edit: I see earlier in the posts that tracking shows it has arrived in NZ, looks like YouShop's system however doesn't know that.  Maybe this is the source of the problem with getting it resolved.
