We're getting one or two of these calls every day or so at the moment. Mostly they disconnect, but last night I had a conversation with someone who was obviously screening me, and then passed me on to her supervisor when she'd determined I had potential.

He spent quite some time talking me through how to open the run box and start Event Viewer, but I think he eventually worked out I knew more than I was letting on and hung up.

In the call before that, the guy started to get angry suggesting that I wasn't taking him seriously, and then threatened to terminate the call if I didn't improve my attitude. Needless to say my attitude didn't improve.

Gotta love a trier though :)

Pete.

I got one of those calls about 5 minutes ago.  They know my last name but obviously no first names as when I asked which of the family she wanted to talk to she replied whoever owns the computer.  Then proceeded to tell me when I had been browsing or doing online banking or making purchases online something had corrupted software on my computer.  I started talking over her saying I had an up to date virus software & it hadn't picked anything up she tried to tell me that this wasn't a virus but I just kept on talking over her ending with there is nothing wrong with my computer & you aren't doing anything to it so thank you & good bye.  Well she has't rung back I hope it stays that way.  The aren't saying they are from Microsoft office this time,

I received 4 calls yesterday, and 2 the day before.

None today (Yay!) Maybe they've given up on me? Not once, ever, have I had a human at the other to abuse - and me yelling abuse to a machine is not very satisfying :(

It was on tonights TV News ... unfortunately this appears to be rampant in the UK and the USA with no remedy.

Awww whats your number? I know an indian guy who might be willing to call you and ask questions like that, though I'm not sure he'd know what he was talking about..

Had a call yesterday morning, just dead air, and another one yesterday arvo. Had a bit of fun let them do their bit for a few mins then turned the call in to one they really didn't want to listen to....they hung up on me

With a bit of luck my number has been marked as one of those not to call again

If you guys want to call them back and talk to them you can call them on 0800 44 44 16. Connects you right to the PC Help 24/7 Scam center in India.

I have setup a VM before and rung them saying a friend said they can help fix my "Microsoft" after looking at dirty website.

Got the whole rubbish story and asked for $99 US. I asked them to prove my system is infected, so he went to a command prompt and did a directory tree listing and told me these are all viruses.

Must of called them a dozen times, get some of them so wound up!

My favorite is pressing ALT+F4 or ALT-TAB while they are logged in and trying to browse the system. Or have some "adult" websites minimized and keep bringing to front while they are looking around.

The last guy tried to delete my Windows System folder after I keep pi**ing him off. haha

Last time I had one I asked the guy if his mother was proud of what he was doing, then started telling him my opinion of his character, he hung up.

My phone number is unlisted in the phone book. This seems to stop all these types of calls. If I were to get a call I plan to first ask where they got my number from and if they won't tell me I'll complain that they obtained my number illegally. This should scare them off - I hope!
