AppleJackXD: Im 24 i don't know much about politics as i said i don't like politics i don't watch the news or read the paper because it is the same recycled garbage everyday. Anyway peasant person i have to go to my tea party in Boston ,Massachusetts now okay.

So you have not researched this topic?
I suggest you go and do so. Then come back and see if you can come up with some real arguments against this bill.

I hate the NZ Government already and this just makes me hate them even more... stand up for yourself be a patriot not a doormat. I'd like to attend one of these protests even though in a few years i will leave this country never to return ever again.

I don't care because I've spent most of my life in an environment where security was taken very seriously, unlike 99% of the rent a crowd muppets who went protesting, I have experience as to why security is important and so I think governments should be allowed to keep tabs on what people in the countries borders are doing, and if the government is not doing that then I think it is being very slack in the security of the country.

'Anonymous' has taken down most of The National Party's websites, which is a bit stupid really considering it will cause many ignorant to the information to side with those who wish the bill to pass to safeguard against things like this happening.

I feel the same about security. New Zealand is a small island nation. Something like a terrorist attack right here in NZ is something that never crosses most of our minds. Unfortunately it will take just one incident to change everybody's viewpoint on security. Until then, those that have not experienced living like that, well they don't understand. They oblivious to it all.

Of course we're not immune, but more people have died in Space Shuttle accidents than have died due to terrorist attacks on New Zealand. Perhaps we should setup some sort of national network to watch out for errant space planes that might be about to fall on our heads. It will be just as useful.

The way to avoid terrorist attacks is not to tool up and become Kafka's worst nightmare. It's to treat everybody with equal respect and dignity. America is a terrorist target because they kill innocent kids by remote control from an armchair in an air-conditioned cabin on the other side of the world, and forcibly impose their policies on people that don't want them, to benefit themselves at the terrible expense of everyone else. The UK was a terrorist target in the eighties because they treated Northern Ireland like a prison. If you treat people like criminals, they become criminals.

New Zealand is not a terrorist target because we don't go out of our way to enrage millions of disenfranchised people based on their skin colour, or what god they believe in.

Home grown terrorism is one of the biggest threats to America

That's a law enforcement issue, not something that can be solved by spying on every New Zealander at a whim. I'm pretty sure you don't have any statistics to back you up in terms of harm caused by terrorist attacks either.

Go read up about Tame Iti's trial and the Urewera 4

Long story short. The evidence from police which included illegal spy video's etc were not allowed to be used against him in his trial to convict him.

That evidence invaded his privacy ...
It seems his right to privacy overrides every other NZealanders right to safety. Which is more important here?

"Tama Iti and his cronies" I remember my son (ex Army served in combat) saw the "training" videos that were taken of them I think he laughed for about two weeks solid. If they had terrorist ambitions which I seriously doubt
they would have lasted seconds in the field.
The only credible threat to New Zealand at this time is the possibility of further series of Shortland Street, X Factor, MKR Australia and the return of synchronised swimming.

As far as I know the police evidence proved that they did.
That evidence was however deemed illegal
