Technically we are all in space.

And we are all time travellers.

I would rather drive a tractor.

I'm a townie, I'd probably drive the cow and milk the tractor..

I always wanted to stay in Chateau Tongariro Hotel one day.

It's possible to drive cattle, so therefore I suppose it's possible to drive a cow.

Tractor milk is tad oily though.  I wouldn't recommended it.

I did a couple of years ago.

The bed was super comfy, I wonder if they will sell them?

Only have  three left but very sadly I don't think I will get to do them.

1. Flight in Fighter Jet

2. Flight in a Spitfire

3. Visit my family home town Hillerød

NZ warbirds out of Ardmore airport has spitfire, yak, Harvard and P51 flights - not cheap though.

Probably should have made this topic a few months before the break but what are some things you'd expect or recommend that all Kiwi's should do?  Naturally most of these will also be of recommendation to visitors from overseas

Some of mine:

  • Eat a whole crayfish
  • Try Kina
  • Try food cooked in a hangi
  • Take a mail-boat ride from Picton
  • Do an Interislander ferry crossing
  • Road trip around both coasts of the South Island
  • Boat ride in Milford Sound
  • Walk from central Auckland City to the harbour and out onto the wharf past The Cloud
  • Take a walk including Te Papa, the harbour, the cable car, the Botanic Garden and back.  Walk one trip between the garden and back to town instead of taking the cable car return.
  • Stand under a wind turbine
  • Visit Oban
  • Cross a national park (esp Tongariro/Abel Tasman)
  • Visit Oban
  • Camp overnight in a hut and at a beachside camping ground
  • Mountain bike through a forest
  • Visit a geothermal area, sniff up the sulphur and swim or soak in a naturally heated pool

...

Only been in NZ for 4 years now and appreciate a list like this. Can tick some off but added the rest to our list.

For me, having the money to make it worthwhile having a wish list, sniff, sniff, bottom lip trembling slightly...

With some imagination and a willingness to be uncomfortable and to try things you normally wouldn't, it actually doesn't take a lot of money to do many of these things or something comparable. Believe me, I lived that way for years. It is like dumpster diving for your food (something I actually never have done, but it's a good example).

I suspect with modern housing and living costs, the cost of travel to some of these places (and finding the time away from work to do it) makes it a bit prohibitive.

I would love to drive a V12 Testarossa around SH25, but I'm going to cite the current flood damage as the biggest problem with that as a goal, and not being able to afford the $200K 80s supercar.

Dreams, however, are free, as are YouTube videos of them going through tunnels, so that will have to do (for now).

You really don't want a wide car on SH25.
