kiwifidget: I need to send a small parcel to Ireland, what are my chances?
Perhaps go through a more reputable international company such as DHL. ...

Nooooohhhhhh! DHL / NZ Post / Courier Post work hand in hand. "As a New Zealand Post business with a strategic relationship with DHL, CourierPost can offer you more services and a greater distribution network than any other courier service in New Zealand." See https://www.courierpost.co.nz/getting-started/why-choose-courierpost/

Sorry, can't offer any alternatives.

Its all a bit wierd, I ordered a used cpu for my kids pc from a user in Henderson, posted Tuesday arrived Wednesday (next day), a spare gpu for the same pc posted on monday from st lukes still hasn't arrived despite being in Green Bay... seems to depend on which depot it gets taken to and exactly how its delivered... the cpu came via nzpost where as I think the gpu will be courier post and could be days away

I think the delay is it goes through the courier sorting then gets sent to NZ Post, goes through their system before a postie delivers it to you. It explained the odd multiple status updates saying picked up, sorted, picked up, at sorting centre etc

I cant help but think this is all a bit weird. I've sent things with NZ Couriers from one end of the country to the other and have been delivered next day. But on the other hand I've bought things which have been sent CourierPost, and they have taken 8 days to get from one side of Auckland to the other.

NZ Post previously used to complain that there was such a drop off in people sending traditional envelope mail that their business was at risk. Now that so many more courier parcels are being sent, they are complaining that we are sending too many parcels.

Can't win. Either way it seems that the CourierPost system seems very broken if overnight deliveries are taking 8-10 working days within city.

My boy's game was just via international post from the United Kingdom, which is actually pretty useless - no tracking facility at all. So, I dunno what to do. I don't really want to do a chargeback if I can avoid it - he just wants his game! :(

Who did your purchase from? Nzgameshop.com (for example) is pretty easy going -- they just ask you to fill in a form and refund you no hassles.

And as I called it all along (ex-NZP/Kiwibank contractor) -- NZP is just useless and making excuses. New Zealand Couriers, for example, are claiming 83% overnight delivery for residential addresses and 90% overnight delivery rate for business addresses. There's no one else telling people to wait 10 days (from pickup) before calling to chase deliveries or disabling website contact functions.

Some seller on eBay, can't remember the name now (will have to look). I realise this probably isn't their fault, but still...frustrating.

Aramex is just as disappointing. Item was sent from Auckland to Wellington on 27-May. Tracking is now saying it will take 5 - 7 business days to be delivered! To add insult to injury, I was charged $29 overnight delivery for sending 2 small pieces of wall art (about 20 by 20cm). To be fair, the merchant could have pocketed a chunk of the $29. Honestly, if the items were available locally, I would stay right away from online shopping.

PB Tech (small) item purchased on the 25th of May, dispatched with Courier Post on the 27th of May, arrived at my Hamilton located front door on the 29th of May.

GPU sent through NZ Post in Frankton, Hamilton on the 27th of May. Out for delivery in Christchurch morning of the 29th of May.

CPU sent on the 20th of May through untracked NZ Post, lost somewhere in the North Island on its way to Wellington.

Items ordered from the UK 6th & 11th of May ... somewhere on the planet.

Aliexpress wireless wii bar 12th of May, apparently still in the air. Maybe shipped by Hot Air Balloon.

Stoked that the bloke I sold my 62cmx86.5cm framed map to through Trade Me just drove over from Rotorua to pick it up in Hamilton. $29 seems ruthless. Using my 62cmx86.5cm measurements through courier quote on Trade Me, max shipping was $31 for delivery, from city Hamilton to rural South Island. $16 rest of North Island urban.

NZ Post stiffed me $34 to send a small parcel 0.2kg to Australia 10 days ago.

The recipient is still waiting for it.
