Watched the latest Jurassic Park offering over the weekend.

Jurassic World Dominion

It's hard to say how I felt about it. It had its moments, but it was weirdly paced, at times a bit of a mess and at other times quite well done.

There's a bit of a moment that feels like they're trying to do the Marvel-style ensemble group shot, which doesn't work. The entire cast is good, but together there's a lack of chemistry.

Geoff Goldblum is a mad as ever and is good in the role he has, but again - they don't capitalise on that character or the actor.

Overall - slightly above average 6/10

Hackers - yeah, seen it many times but seem to end up watching it again every so often.

Funny thing with this movie is most of its theory is pretty good, just the practical is so overblown its not funny - but done for the movie goers obviously :)

Lot of stereotypes in the movie, like how because you know how to hack, you know how to complete/read code in hex for a corrupted file. :D

For what it is, 6.5/10

For a hardcore geek, probably a 1/10 :D

The Man From Toronto - Netflix 5/10

Standard mismatched buddy action movie with Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. Took me 5 sessions to get through it as I put it on when I wanted something playing in the background. Nothing wrong with it but nothing great about it either - just a by the numbers script.

Thor - Love and Thunder - Hoyts - 6/10

Was keen to watch this based on the trailers but took my time getting to the theatre and by then I had seen some reviews. I know they shouldn't affect my opinion of it but I can't help but agree with some of the reviews.

Ragnarok was better IMO. The humour was ok - some jokes worked, some didn't. Action is up to the usual MCU quality and some emotional moments. I do really like Chris Hemsworth and the rest of the cast was good.

It did make me wonder how much steam the MCU and all the superhero genre has left though. There are plenty of upcoming movies (Shazam, Black Adam, Antman, GOTG3) but nothing except maybe GOTG3 has pipped my interest.

I am re-working my way through a series of movies staring my favourite Spanish / English speaking (Mexican) actor, Gael García Bernal.

Y tu mamá también 10/10 - In Mexico, two teenage boys and an attractive older woman embark on a road trip and learn a thing or two about life, friendship, sex, and each other. [Warning - no punches pulled full frontal nudity and sex scenes)

He also stars in another of my 10/10 top films; The Motorcycle Diaries - The dramatization of a motorcycle road trip that Che Guevara went on in his youth that showed him his life's calling.

As well as Bad Education - 9/10 - An examination on the effect of Franco-era religious schooling and sexual abuse on the lives of two long time friends.

All of these movies are in English.

The Gray Man.

Watched it last night and found it very good. Pretty unbelievable, but still good entertainment if you like action movies.

The Black Phone 5.5/10

Expected more from this, it was a bit of a drag for me. Good acting from the kids but the story was a bit meh.

I'm with ya for this one, stupid ending, nothing explained. Thought it would be way better.

I thought it was unwatchable  :-)
Very obvious, generic , paint by numbers storyline .
I gave up after less than 1/2 an hour .

Oh what a pity.  I've been looking forward to this since hearing it was going to be a movie.  I think I said something, either further back this thread, or the 'What Book Did You Read?' thread about seeing some excellent screen adaptions of some favourite books, and I was hoping this would follow that trend.  I am going to watch it though, just in case.

loved the books and the movie is not that close but is still entertaining . The only film that ever improved on the book it was based on was Man on Fire, my all time favourite action film.

Thor: Love and Thunder.

Was...OK. It wasn't as funny as it thought it was and wasn't as good as previous efforts, but still better than some other movies in the MCU.

I can't honestly think of any parts where I was truly blown away or thought, "I'll remember that for a long time".

Not one I'll watch again, I don't think.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts. Given that I really loved its predecessor - and Ragnarock is one of the few MCU movies I’ve liked enough to watch multiple times - I had high hopes, but they weren’t even close to being met.

Also disappointed by the poor sound (which is an important factor in these types of movies) at my local theatre - TBH, our own system typically sounds better than that did!

Carter [2022] Netflix. What can i say , i gave it a 6/10 and can you have to much action , it was exhausting . Some of the camera work was just amazing though in fact jaw dropping but it never stops to breath. I think there was a plot but again it never got in the way of the action. Did i mention the never ending action.

Tom and Jerry 2021.

I have never seen my 4 year old laugh like that before.

Was actually a pretty good kids movie.
