On the other hand, the last two times I've used CourierPost goods were delivered next day - from Auckland to Wellington.

And received a parcel shipped from Ohio to Wellington, via Fedex, in four days - I guess it was lucky there was a Fedex plane ready to leave LAX on that day...

My thing from the US which I ordered online on April 12th, and which shipped on the 16th April was delivered today. Allegedly, it's been in the country since the 14th June, according to DHL Tracking.

"Shortly" is relative, I guess, to the delay its had getting this far!

Another good job by CourierPost... Bought something on Tuesday, shipped that day from Auckland, delivered Wednesday in Wellington.

Bought something from Amazon US on Sunday, sent to YouShop USA. Delivered confirmation from Amazon received on Tuesday. Got email from YouShop on Wednesday, confirmed everything and Thursday got an email confirming the parcel left the USA.

Let's see how long it stays in Auckland though. Will update here.

Correct me if I'm wrong but FDX freighters go LAX - HNL - AKL? Then passed onto NZ Couriers for final delivery?

I don't know the route but final delivery is FedEx. I personally know a FedEx driver. You are thinking DHL.

It's NZ Couriers for out of the main centers when it's Fedex, DHL is handled by CourierPost

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

I wish I could call this BS. I live near Auckland airport and even closer to the local depot. Before NZ Post started slashing services, mail would be flagged as "Arrived in New Zealand" one day and be delivered without fail the next day. Now, packages are typically in transit to the local depot for multiple days.

I am currently waiting on a package that was in transit to the local depot on the 24th, out for delivery on the morning of the 29th and was put back into "Waiting for courier" status later the same day.

I wish I could say this was COVID related, but it's not.

Ditto. A product from overseas is listed as "In transit to local depot" from Auckland on June 25. Still no sign of it.

My optician rang me this morning to say my new glasses (which were due today) hadn't arrived; the lab confirmed they'd been picked up on the 26th.

One would assume that items like this would normally be shipped "overnight delivery" ??

Sigh.

Hopefully they'll turn up quickly - they are somewhat vital (and not cheap!)

I'm *still* waiting for my new glasses; which come from Australia. They were due LAST Thursday.

The stupidly annoying thing is that according to the store's tracking, they are actually in NZ already - apparently just on the donkey-cart coming from Auckland that has replaced the old-fashioned-yet-efficient courier network...

They left customs and into the bumbling paws of the donkey-crew last Friday.

My item from the US, specifically Lexington, SC went via NY to Tokyo, and is allegedly now on its way to NZ. Surprising but not unexpected, there's always been excess capacity via Japan to the extent that you could sometimes get really cheap flights to the US from here if you were prepared to spend an eternity wedged into an airplane seat.

My daughter sent a present for Mother's Day, the week of Mother's day (9 May) and we knew if would not arrive in time. But it still hasn't arrived yet. It was sent regular USPS so it could be in the US still or stuck in Auckland (or even lost maybe?)

On the other hand an item I ordered from Ebay and sent to Youshop on June 11 arrived Youshop June 17 and arrived in Wellington 30 June. That is reasonable given the current situation re flights from the US.

Not CourierPost but Fastway couriers.

My son has been waiting 2 months for a pair of shoes. Showing most recently as “in country” and “in transit” for about 7 days. Checked the mailbox today (Saturday) to find a “Called with a signature required parcel, but you weren’t home” postcard for Fastway. The problem was, I was home at the time indicated on the card (5pm Friday) and to back that up there is a security camera on the front door. It was raining at the time so I suspect the “call” consisted of pulling up at the letterbox, throwing the card in and departing. In addition, my son was at pains to tick the ‘signature not required’ box, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

Hopefully there will be a ‘How’d we do’ survey once it’s redelivered.
