Handle9: Thankfully there’s no real James Bond universe, they mostly reinvent themselves for each movie with a few characters carried through.

Yup - it's mostly: Spy, Womaniser, Martini, Car. Other than that, it's open slather...which is why it has worked well for so long - even with all the personnel changes.

Also not so misogynistic these days. That mostly left when Roger Moore left, but there was still a touch of it with Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan. Daniel Craig treated his woman with respect. A female 'M' (Judy Dench) may of had something to do with that, along with the times and the MeToo Movement.

Yes they have done away with the Roger Moore tongue in cheek silliness, but we all love the Bond gadgets, grandiose sets, vehicle chases and a life style just mostly out of reach for most of us. The last movie did not quite meet all that criteria.

The last movie, IMO, was overly long with a weak story line. I think they tried to wrap something up and didn't quite succeed with the packaging.

Do we need a 6' +", six pack', square jawed and very 'fit' looking male?

Daniel Craig was more the ordinary man and fitted the spy bill very well and was more ordinary looking out of all the Bonds and that is what you want in a spy. (George Lazenby is just too forgettable)

Having said all of that; apparently the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, have been clear about three things: The next Bond should be played by a Brit; the next Bond should be young enough to be able to continue in the role for at least 15 years; and the next Bond will be a man, not a woman.

Henry Cavill, IMO, is just too American for a Brit. (Don't flame me)

My pick/s; Regé-Jean Page and Daryl McCormack

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Bond slapping women around and being a borderline rapist probably wouldn’t play too well these days.

Did I read somewhere that Tom Hardy was in the frame for the role, or am I imagining I read/heard that?
