Fun boy three - making their countries great again ... for a while, like a straw fire. I hope EU climate plans become successful - we (seriously) try at least.

Personally I will be involved in a realistic technology project from next year and will see what I can do with my experience.

- NET: FTTH, OPNsense, 10G backbone, GWN APs, ipPBX
- SRV: 12 RU HA server cluster, 0.1 PB storage on premise
- IoT:   thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D:    two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter

kingdragonfly: Australians will be literally dying this summer because of the heat, as Scott Morrison continue to choose coal over renewables.

Australia ranked worst of 57 countries on climate change policy

But... He believes they are already doing something about climate change.

"We must take action on climate change, we are taking action on climate change," he said Sunday.

As they say "talk is cheap." If Australia stopped fossil fuel subsidies, maybe I'd cut him some slack

Azzura:

France to Raise Pollution Tax on SUVs and Trucks to $22,240

Ouch

As long as every SUV that will be taxed, has an equivalent EV SUV available, that's fine. I assume this is for new SUV's? If so, and there is no EV equivalent, or its much more cost, then the SUV upgraders will hold onto them to avoid the tax and the EV premium, until the EV prices are better. End result is more emissions from the age of SUV's being older

The general principle I agree with. But EV's have to be available and at a fair price.

I'm a little confused that they'd reduced subsidies to EV's at the same time. Combined it seems to indirectly benefit hybrids, which do produce CO2.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Maybe its the overall costs of the subsidies? I believe still, that EV production isn't very high compared to ICE. If they sell all that are produced, why have subsidies? Once they can get big numbers off the assembly line and if they aren't selling as well, then add the incentive?

As for hybrids and low emission cars they are valuable for climate change also IMHO. If a buyer cannot stump the high cost of an EV, and they need to upgrade, better to be a hybrid than holding into the ICE

If climate change does wipe out a good chunk of humanity, I heard a great quote that can be etched on a memorial.

It was an anonymous Australian rescued by helicopter.

"Once I saw the blaze I realized how serious it was."

It seemed approprié to humanity's attitude.

The Science of Christmas: Is climate change killing Santa?

IFLScience Official

Climate change is causing Arctic ice to melt and sea levels to rise. With the North Pole being home to Santa and his workshop. Where will Santa and his reindeers go? Will climate change ruin Christmas?

Will “Climate Change” kill a fictional character?

There is more chance of climate change activists ruining Christmas than Climate Change itself.

I don't know. Pretty hard to pretend Santa lives at the North Pole if it is all open water.

Hellish is right. Sounds like Psalm 94:1-2: "The Lord is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth. Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve."

On a positive note, 60% of Australians respondents want to see more climate change action, compared with 51% in March
