Update; I've just been told by the sender that this was sent "Royal Mail First Class" (whatever that means - I presume that's a quicker/premium delivery service). Does that make any difference, or everything being lumped into the same bag at the moment?

Years ago when NZ Post still had FastPost (their 'First Class' service) back a friend would send weekly mail to his work's HQ mail via both FastPost and normal post. E.g. one letter by FastPost and another by standard post -- both on the same day. It turned out there was not much difference between the two -- sometimes FastPost would arrive ahead of the standard post, sometimes at the same time, sometimes later than the standard post. So it's a bit hit and miss...
Nate001:On the other hand I ordered coffee during L4 and that was delivered the same day by NZ couriers. In fact they delivered it 2.5 hours after pickup
Apparently the USPS has suspended deliveries to NZ, Austrailia and 20 other countries because Covid has made it "too hard"...

There's whole thread about it, here USPS suspending mail service to New Zealand

I'm not surprised, a USPS delivery last year took months to land in NZ. The only good thing was NZ Post delivered it within 24 hours of arrival in NZ...

Nope, it's completely ordinary mail, or at least it is as the USPS uses it. "First Class" just means "not bulk commercial mail", a.k.a. junk mail. To get a better grade you need something with "priority" or "express" in the title.

LOL just not DHL Express which is ironically a lower tier to DHL proper... It's a confusing mess.
I've supplied NZ Post with the Royal Mail tracking number. Hopefully they come back to me this week with something useful, ie, more than what I already know.

Mt. Welling 28 September to Kohimarama. Not even scanned at depot but arrived yesterday (not)

Tracking number allocated to parcel
... and that's it so far.
Two weeks so far for a tennis elbow arm strap from an Auckland based medical equipment supplier.
BUT, a twist last week.
Got a call from Great Barrier Airport telling me my package is there and ready for pickup. I don't live on the island. The woman looked closer and said that she could see my address had been scratched off and another GB Island one written in. Name left unchanged. I asked her to put my address back on and send it back. They have no idea where it is now *sigh*
I can only assume somebody in the chain has tried to steal it by putting on a new address? Perhaps they assumed if the box says medical equipment it might have some value. (it doesn't, it's a $20 item)
The current courier delays are so frustrating... understandable, but frustrating. I've had an item 'processing at depot' for a few days now with NZ Post. Post Haste have also been a bit hit or miss, with a lot of their stuff turning up next day (awesome!) and then others more like a week - interesting it's so inconsistent.
NZ Post generally seem to be a bit slower at the moment too with even letters taking about 1.5 weeks to arrive? Maybe just me.
They came back to me and said "this parcel hasn't yet arrived in New Zealand...please follow up directly with the sender".
What the hell is the point of paying for a tracked service if it just disappears into the night and no one can see where it is?? Ridiculous.
