Conversely, people who think that the slow vehicle bay is the normal lane to travel at 100kph in.
There's one on Whangaparaoa Road heading west in a 50kph zone. You can be doing 55-58 in the main lane and there'll be some dick tailgating you to pull over or go faster and who will then roar up the slow vehicle bay at 75 or so

People who work for supposedly professional organisations and businesses that seem unaware of even basic functions in Word. The particular gripe here is when they produce reports without a proper Table of Contents (i.e. based on Styles and with hyperlinks to the document structure). I'm reading a report that was prepared for a project I'm working on, and they have clearly manually typed the table of contents rather than properly format the document in the first place so they can simply insert a proper Table of Contents...

That's what happens when you get rid of professional typists and expect everyone else to just roll that up into their day job...

Self service checkouts... when you have paid and packing your stuff they are continuously repeating the "Please take your stuff" every 5 seconds.
It should be programmed like, if there is no weight change for X number of seconds then freak out.

Its mainly among 40 year plus old people that think they can work word and excel that I see it. Not taught at school and they think they know it all.
Seen one that was adding things up manually and putting the total at the bottom since they didnt know about the sigma button on the ribbon, so was clicking each cell above and pressing + making a long formula.
Hell, even something simple like right click or ctrl-f blows their minds sometimes. And these people get paid a lot because of their "business expertise". Lol FFS.
Motorists who "own the road"...I am a motorist, but also a cyclist and e-scooter rider.
I know how to safely share the road with other users.
Yesterday, I had a car tailgate me (despite having room to pass) while leaning on the horn - note, I was on an e-scooter, with lights on and doing around 35km/h downhill as far to the left as I could be.
He swerved out to overtake in an exaggerated manner and then swerved in (faux-attempt to "hit" me") before racing down the road and then slamming to a halt in the middle of the road, to confront me.
Perfect placement as it was where I left the road to join a cycle track through a park and I simply waved and smiled to him as I scooted past.
What he was trying to achieve, I'll never know, but it was small and annoyed me.

I agree. I used to tell my boss that I had not spent 5 years of my life getting qualified just to type letters and reports and that paying me as a qualified surveyor to do that was just a waste of company money.
I freely admit to knowing nothing but the most basic functions of Word etc and to having not the slightest inclination to know more!

Ageism, but it is not something small.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'm sorry, I disagree. While there are some specialised skills which have been (IMO, wrongly) disaggregated to "regular staff", being able to perform basic formatting on your own document is not a specialised skill. Word is a simple program, and formatting is a basic function. Word processing is a foundational tool of most office roles, and in the same way I expect a mechanic to know how to use the tools of their trade, I expect my office colleagues to also know how to use their tools.
It takes just a few seconds to apply a hierarchical style format to key headings, and then a couple of clicks to insert the proper table of contents. Word has already done the complicated stuff. People who can't do that need to go back to school.

I'd be looking pretty hard at the training your organization offers if so many of your staff meet this threshold.
A lot of our clients have regular word/excel training to cover this very thing.
Some of our organizations include it as part of induction.
In my small organization we require specific courses to be completed within a couple of weeks of start dates. Word/Excel formatting isn't one of them, but my office manager has done courses at my request/expense..
