I shall resist the urge to make some comments about it being where all pests came from :)

I have no idea why dolphins always get special treatment in the rescuing area. Rescue dolphin/poison possum. It is inconsistent.

One is an endangered species, often caught up in fishing nets, the other is a pest that consumes the forests.

Not all dolphins are classified as endangered. Possums are also not pests where they are supposed to be, so to apply the dolphin logic, all possums should be 'rescued' and returned to their correct habitat.

Have you really nothing better to do?

I've never been lucky enough to see a dolphin in the forest. Are they mainly South Island rainforest-dwellers? I didn't realise Possums were endangered...shame. They're quite cute.

Aussies are welcome to come and get as many as they want.

In fact, I think we should require every Aussie leaving NZ to take a possum with him.

OK, I am trying to follow developments on White Island. TV 1 cuts off the press conference because they simply MUST show their scheduled sports coverage (never mind someone has died). TV 3 (thr33 or however they style it nowadays) does exactly the same because they always do exactly the same as TV Wun at exactly the same times. RNZ also cuts it off because Checkpoint has reached the end of its TeeVee portion.

What does it take to get actual news coverage in this country? This is pathetic. Even Australia has better coverage of our news. Even CNN does better. What a mob of useless backward parochial winkers we are!

Yes have to say ABC News Australia are providing really good coverage. Interview with volcanologist who knew his stuff and had previously visited there etc.

Everyday during morning commute I see aggressive, and ultimately pointless, driving.

This morning when trying to merge on a highway, an "Able Mason" tradee in a full size truck rushed forward, forcing me to brake, and merge behind him.

Seconds later he cuts off someone in the passing lane, forcing them to brake.

Continuing in the passing lane, due to heavy traffic I was able to leisurely pass him on the left.

We come to a two highways merge, and he get aggressive again and cuts across a solid median line, and does a continuous two lane cutover to the outermost passing lane.

At the same time I do a normal merge, and again because of heavy traffic leisurely pass him on the left.

Eventually he passes me again, and merges in front of me.

Literally from the suburbs to the inner city he's driving like a jerk. I'm immediately behind him as he turns into a parking garage.

I wish I could say this was unusual, but I see pointless aggressive driving at rush hour everyday. Even more stupidly, when it rains, people get even more aggressive.

Sigh...

People with phones capable of taking photos with a gazillion megapixels that post stamp-sized pictures when sharing photos with others - so small you can't barely recognise people's faces.

Maybe its the stingy data allowances etc our Telcos offer that restrict folk in what they do with their phones.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
