When will the conservative party votes get split amongst the rest? That will give National the final two seats to lead alone as I understand it. It's now all but a forgone conclusion if I am understanding correctly?

Conservative party failed to meet 5% that means those votes which as I understand it amount to 3 seats in total, will be split as the vote was for party vote between the other parties, giving National another two seats. This is according to commentary I read earlier tonight.

It'll come down to special and overseas votes for the last 2% which traditionally goes to the greens.

Personally I think MMP is stupid if 4% of the country get 0% representation? And some random guy with .02% in a small area electorate DOES get a seat (!)

I don't understand MMP, but you still need to look at the electorate seats too - how that fits into the party vote equation IDK :(

They get represented by the share of the parties which won actual seats in the election, which is about as fair as you could hope for, since it reflects the countries overall choices.

She said the people of the North had lost a 'fighter' on Hone Harawira who looks to have been voted out of Parliament. Says she hasn't heard from him. Says he was 'defeated by the votes of the National Party.'

But it was a Labour candidate who pushed him out of his seat!?

Surprise Surprise the man himself didn't show up to make his own concession speech.

So then referendums should be legally binding too, right?

Sue Bradford showed how this country is governed... Ignoring over 80% who. Voted against her stupidly writttten 'anti smacking' Bill...

I guess all those telling me that a conservative vote was 'wasted' we're not wrong after all...
