Yes, got a package with "Opened by US warehouse" stickers all over this week. I doubt it was to assess viability of repacking, seeing it was a plastic envelope already small.

Good look with that. It was just felting wool and the package weight/shape and touch wouldn't be that of a battery at all.

I have a package on the way from YouShop.

In people's experience, how long does it take after it has shipped (I got the shipped notification from Youshop on Sunday 19th)?

I'm just being impatient :)

My recent parcel

Jan 18: left USA
Jan 21: arrived in NZ, and cleared customs
Jan 22: delivered to Wellington

That's faster than usual, it can take a week to get from the US to NZ sometimes.

yes.

If you sign up for notifications on nzpost tracking it is usually:

arrived in nz
cleared customs
at sorter
out for delivery

hangon:
Ordered a pair of merrell shoes (don't ship NZ possibly due to local distributors), fulfilled by Amazon. Apparently Amazon decided to put it in a huge box, and youshop quoted shipping weight 1 KG, volumetric weight nearly 4 KG, final shipping cost for 1 pair of size 9 shoes is over $50... looks a rip off compare to my other orders arrived at NZ in a shorter time frame and free global saver shipping from amazon.

I have purchased some Merrell Barefoot running shoes from Amazon before, they shipped them direct, and sent them in a box the same size as a shoe box.

How much do they obsess over this??   I want to get some button batteries  small screw in ones used on model aircraft and dog bark colliers.  I can get 6 for about NZ$30 on Amazon  and postage via YouShop  where here in NZ it's about $26 for 2 batteries..

Regards,

Hi, I got an e-mail from a YOU SHOP Customer Service Representative that in part reads; "When a parcel arrives into our Warehouse, they are automatically opened and assessed to check the contents are not dangerous goods or damaged."  While this clearly did not happen in my case because the parcel I complained about (which resulted in the aforementioned e-mail reply) was in good condition but the item inside was damaged, could there be any chance that NZ Post are repacking items into larger boxes to justify the exorbitant fees they're charging.  I had one relatively large parcel - but not significantly so as it was long but not wide - and the rest were smallish --- single t-shirts and a book, etc. --- ten parcels in total came through at one time from YOU SHOP (shipped to my YOU SHOP address by the various sellers simultaneously) and I was charged over $260's for the lot.

I guess the warehouse trusts labels for places like amazon, but maybe not others. $260 for ten parcels sounds quite reasonable.

Youshop is not an express service and shouldn't be treated as such. Parcels take time to be logged once they arrive, they take time to get to NZ, they take time to clear customs. If you need something urgently, don't use it. Assume delivery is 2 weeks from when it arrives at youshop and be happily surprised if it's faster.

The cost of the shipping was almost double the cost of the items that I purchased.  Its times like this that you realize how isolated New Zealand is from the rest of the world and why living in this far away country is so expensive.

Regards delivery time, actually YOU SHOP did better than the standard international postal service as I bought two additional items - 2 t-shirts in one parcel and 1 t-shirt in the other parcel - at the exact same time as I purchased the items bought through Amazon and other supplies that were shipping via YOU SHOP, and, the YOU SHOP parcel arrived late last week but the 2 t-shirts only got here this morning and am still waiting for the last t-shirt to get here.

Yeah they can be quick sometimes, and yes lots of packages can be expensive. One of the competitors who's name I forget right now is quite a bit cheaper if you get a lot of packages regularly. They actually open boxes and combine your items into larger boxes, I think. I think it's shipitto. There are a few quirks of their service, like needing a $10 monthly subscription for parcel consolidation, but could still be cheaper than youshop.

If you are shipping that many individual products to a place like youshop you are doing it wrong, that would stress me out waiting for a huge unknown bill vs one of the other options that offer consolidation to 1 or more packages. You are also pretty lucky you were under the $400 total cost(shipping included) as you could have ended up paying Duty fees of ~$107 had it gone over and they arrived at once.
