Rikkitic:

Anybody using Facebook to announce anything. Facebook has no official status as a point of contact. Not everyone is on Fecebook (typo but I decided to leave it). Not everyone wants to be on Facebook. There is a movement away from Facebook because of its (non-)moderation policies. Quit giving it more legitimacy than it deserves. Quit assuming this is a good way of distributing information.

Not everyone watches TV news or reads the newspaper, so using multiple channels to get the message out is important.

I think the issue is when companies use Facebook exclusively to announce things.

That would be annoying.

I think it's quite useful, I don't use Fecebook so as an added benefit I miss out on spam from companies who think Fecebook is an appropriate way to reach people.

fecebook(dot)com actually exists.

Has a redirect script to a site that's headed with a "One Nevvs" logo, with an authoritatively written article about how Paula Bennett's making tens of thousands of dollars a day -  "experts are in awe, and big banks terrified".  You can guess the rest.

edit: warning added (dot) so it didn't become a clickable link - the redirect site is randomised, some pages it links to look like they'll try to entice you to d/l malware.

Or fewer numbers of people, individually targeted because they know more about individuals than those individuals probably do about themselves.

You can do that if you want to pay for it. If you want to simply announce things you can do that using Facebook for next to no cost.

When a restaurant you've wanted to go to for months (and been turned away twice because it was full) turns out to be rubbish.

No heating so the place was freezing, measly portions so although we ordered multiple dishes each we left hungry and one dish looked like spam and two minute noodles.

Good service, but we won't be going back.

Waking in the morning with pain and fatigue that could signal that my remission may be at an end and realising that I may not be able to fight it again.

That sounds more like a Big F---ing Scary Thing than a small thing...

A small thing is "deciding to go out for dinner and a movie and your partner decides on a film that's been widely panned by critics using the logic that 'they could all be wrong'".
