Interestingly not all of CHCH went LAB. Mallard is BARELY going to keep his seat, Brownlee stomped in easily despite the controversy surround his handling of the rebuild, and less than 7K votes separate the rest of CHCH from the two other electorates.

joker97: yes, but a referendum was held (I think??) and people wanted MMP ... or am I just dreaming? hmm I call upon my memory loss

So then referendums should be legally binding too, right?

Sue Bradford showed how this country is governed... Ignoring over 80% who. Voted against her stupidly writttten 'anti smacking' Bill...

I guess all those telling me that a conservative vote was 'wasted' we're not wrong after all...

everyone was doing well until the KDC saga then everyone lost traction except National who gained. if the KDC saga didn't happen the Cons would have gone over 5% as a lot of national supporters would have given the Cons their party vote, but then JK rallied and said they needed the party votes back when the saga happened

also due to the saga no policies were given any air time! it was all NSA and GCSB

Yes I know, I didn't write that coherently :)

The Mallard thing was a separate thing but I didn't give it it's own line, sorry about that.

Handle9: It'll come down to special and overseas votes for the last 2% which traditionally goes to the greens.

My wife and I were 'special ' and our 4 votes were all very blue!

Not a hint of homespun tofu vegan baby pod to be seen…

1 word. M M P.

anyway, I think the conservatives are the big losers here, gaining a lot of traction until the campaign was hijacked, and stuck at 4.1. but if you look at it, it's only 5 percent less than NZF and 6% less than greens ...

It's easy. There are two people. Each one gets 2 votes...

2 x 2 = ?

I voted today, I held my nose and voted National. Labour - you lost people across the board and you only have yourself to blame - when you value hand outs to the select few instead of lower taxes all then you're going to keep losing elections.

I'm interested by some of the winning labour MPs having their electorate split in favour of National for the party vote.

Also the greens stubborn refusal to consider working with a National government does them no favours. They are now going to be out of Government for 9 years. There is a lot they could have achieved in that time.
