I want to be clear I consider Boko Haram to be evil as well. The atrocities committed at that school was one of the most terrible things I've ever witnessed. I did start a thread to that affect at the time.

Obviously there are terrible things happening all over the world, I don't have all the answers, but what I am completely certain of, is ISIS can not be allowed to continue with their current evil plans.

DarthKermit: ISIS are cockroaches. All that remains is to apply the bug spray.

Have used bug spray recently? Totally useless.

...So a perfect analogy for military action, then, I guess. Well said!

Agree. The entire world needs to unite against ISIS and Boko Haram. But the sad thisng is , is that there will be civilan casualties. But there will be anyway, won't there? Some form of united affort, Earth vs these terrorists. Difficult though as its not a case of fighting who you can see, but no dojbt the CIA, SIS's of this world globally will be locating data on them. As I type this a CNN alert.  Them

What an odd thing to say. Do you have some comparison between what happened when we intervened vs not? Of course not because we intervene, it's not possible to know what would have happened had they have remained unchecked, but it seems to be unlikely things would be BETTER than now.

It may not be a perfect solution but to my mind better than nothing.

If that long article linked to at the start of this thread is indeed correct, then fighting back against ISIS is the only way. They are not interested in peace with their neighbours, they don't even recognise international boarders. Their way is the only way. It even states they are expected to war against their neighbours at least once a year, or else they're not true muslims!

I was alarmed they want to take the war to Rome. With so many historical places and objects in Rome the damage they could do to historical sites is frightening.

They want to take the conflict Global, their aim is to kill all who do not believe in what they believe and their version of Islam. They cannot be reasoned with, they cannot be negotiated with.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Yah I understand that, however having just been to Italy for the first time and seen some of the wonders of historical significance, their loss would be hard to put a value on.

Well, other than basically all of the western meddling in 20th Century history, no, not really. My bad.

Agreed; however there are many historical sites throughout Syria, Iraq, Jordan, etc that are also at risk. Of greater importance though is the loss of life which will escalate the longer the world procrastinates.

The situation in Iraq is civil war. Isis is there because in addition to indigenous elements present in Isis, Isis is useful to parties in that conflict. This is something Rambo finds very confusing.
