richms: It's all to vague with what a stand alone battery is. They wouldn't give me an answer either way for a kit of cordless drill, battery and charger. Was under on the numbers.

Wonder how they treat button batteries. The type that come with remote control devices and dog bark collars. About US $12 for 4 at Amazon Versus about NZ$50 for the same here..

Here's the answer to the battery question

Andrew: What is the definition of a stand alone battery?
Robert: Stand alone batteries are batteries on their own, not included in an appliance tool,etc
Andrew: So is a spare battery for a tool or appliance a stand alone battery?
Robert: Yes it is, if it is the only item in the package. If the parcel contains a tool or appliance, plus a spare battery that is OK
Andrew: Thankyou for your help

If batteries are alone in a package, they're standalone. If they're for the item in the package, they're fine.

Still doesn't really answer my question, you could easily argue either way. Still a stupid policy and doesn't really seem logical at all. How is a cordless drill + battery vs the battery by itself any less/more dangerous?? For the battery jump starter pack I don't think it is worth risking it though.

Anyone know if I want to return an item I ordered from Amazon they (Amazon) offer a free pickup service that I can use which is free of charge. Is it possible to use that or do I have to get Youshop to send it back and pay a fee ?

Also have couple of other parcels coming and wondering if there is any new discount code.

You can definitely get Amazon to help you with a free return, as they did that for me last year when my YouShop shipping fee was $100 greater than their estimate, due to increased packaging. They'll send you something to forward to YouShop to affix to the package, and will credit your Amazon account back straight away. If they don't receive the goods within a specified time (IIRC 30 days), they'll charge you again.

Planning on getting a Wii U from the States through YouShop (cheaper games, my 3DS is American too). Anyone got any discount codes I could use? Or anyone see any potential problems I may have with this?

Hey guys! Newbie here- I've been lurking, but never actually posted-.

Those of you who got a discount from youshop on twitter, how long did it take after you gave them a good review/feedback before they offered you the discount?..... I gave them a review on twitter last week, after a couple of friends started using youshop via my recommendation. All they did was favourite my post and thank me via tweet.

If anyone has a good discount code, would you be willing to share with me? I've got a backlog of stuff that needs to be paid for, please help me if you can. Thanks!

Why not - if they repack it, they will save you money?

Because due to the nature of the item (collectible) I want the box to arrive intact. :) I'm prepared to pay the full shipping cost so that's not the issue.

Please contact our Support Team and inform them you don't want the parcel re-packed under any circumstances. This request will then be passed onto the US warehouse to action.

As an update, I did email as suggested and I feel like they tried their best (hopefully) but the box was repacked anyway. This just meant cutting down the original (custom sprayed logo) box and stuffing everything back inside it.

Judging by the pics and vids I've seen of other people's boxes, they also threw away the previously used packing paper (that occupied the rest of the box) and opened a couple of smaller envelopes within the box, emptying those contents into the main box. Weird. Also, other boxes had fragile stickers on them (which the T&Cs indicate should mean no repacking) but it was repacked anyway. Due to the box being cut, I can't know if mine originally had a fragile sticker or not.

Anyway, I'm glad I was able to get one (since they were only available for shipping with US) and I should be glad they saved me $50ish in shipping costs I suppose. Not sure I'd use them again for something like this. There should definitely be a way to decline repacking if desired.
