Dratsab:
KiwiNZ: Our native trees are being lost one tree at a time, it is not a silly comparison. One could say your trivialising the loss of trees 100's of years old is being silly.

Except they're not 100's of years old. And a more significant stand of trees in another area on the property was going to be left untouched. The developer was doing what he could to minimise the impact on the local environment and a bunch of people, who've already had trees removed to build their houses, decided they didn't want this (sounds like a personal grudge to me) and started spreading misinformation in furtherance of their aim. Didn't take much effort to hook hordes of gullible kiwis...

What age are they? 150-200 years is hundreds as I described

apparently less than 100, possibly as young as 60-70 years.

KiwiNZ: I suppose what happened to the Amazon Rainforest was just the removal of a few trees. Same could be said about the South Island Beech forests.

are you talking about the ones that have restricted logging rights on them? allowed to take x amount per year?

also the same forrests that a lot of the trees were blown over in a storm, where the trees are just going to rot away and hamper further growth in the Forrest?

I have no issue with the removal of wind felled trees as long as full care is taken to protect other trees and environment.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Mainstream media are far too worried about the latest super food, storm troopers walking dogs and Justin Bieber to be searching for legitimate research regarding the age of a tree to report on an issue properly.

As for all the references to deforestation, thery are pretty absurd.  They followed the law to the last letter, they were nothing but civilized and considerate about the whole situation including invasive protestors and death threats...Yet, KiwiNZ still isn't happy.

Tree should have come down.  Tree would have come down if it was my property.  Otherwise, I'd be sending my invoice from continental cars to the lead protestor requesting it to be paid in full in exchange for the trees safety.  Seems fair.

You are misrepresenting my post I posted an age range of 150-200 not 500

but there is still no actual proof of how old it is, so either way, the info you and i (and i did make a statement under my post) are providing is hair say.

Mainstream media hyped something up with little facts which enraged a lot of people. unfortunately thats just how media outlets in the country work, pick a side and go with it with out looking at facts or info
