Stop the presses! No need for terror laws!

The guy in Sydney was a murdered who earlier pleaded guilt of hleping his girlfriend kill a woman, stabbing her 18 times and setting her on fire. He was on bail. He was also accused of sexual assault. He was on bail.

HE WAS ON BAIL.

He was known to the police and the guy was on bail. Not because of lack of terror laws but because current laws let crazy people like him on the streets.

You know, like that New Zealand murderer who got to go out of jail for a weekend and flee the country on a valid passport.

We don't need "terror laws for that".

If it was a white guy in the store some wouldn't be calling "terrorism".

If he was robbing a bank would it be terrorism? He killed his ex wife. Was it terrorism?

a lot of so called terrorist attacks are only smoke and mirrors but thats another topic.

This guy was no terrorist , he is just a common criminal. He was a refugee from Iran and carried out crimes in Australia. Countries including NZ need to get tough on these refugees. Sure let them in on humanitarian grounds. Then if they commit crimes deport them to the country they came from regardless of the fact it will be death for them going back. If they come in as refugee they need to obey the laws and live a law abiding life

I expect that although he had arrived in Aus as a refugee, he would have been an Australian citizen for a long time, and may have become a citizen long before citizenship testing was part of the process (late 00s?).
It's very unlikely he could have been deported.

It's very unlikely he could have been deported.

It is possible to strip a person of granted citizenship, although doing so risks running afoul of the UN convention on Stateless people.

Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, a military vet is causing terror, including having already killed more people than the Muslim murderer out on bail. Is he a terrorist? Or will he turn out to be a man thoroughly broken by the wars he fought on behalf of his government, as much deserving of pity as anger?

Say you are in a bank or petrol station etc in NZ here and a gunman comes in to rob the place as we have seen many of. Most people are going to be terrorfied but that does not make it terrorism.

Under this view EVERYTHING crime related is terrorism.

Assuming his cause was what he placed up in the window by definition he was a terrorist.

The key indicators of a terrorist over criminal activity (which a terrorist falls under) are

- Assumed to have training, so destruction is generally greater
- Likely to believe in their cause, and therefore they are willing to die
- Lack general criminal behavior signs like running and hiding
- Attempting to use the media to elevate their actions

I think you can call him a terrorist

Assuming. We do not have information about motives.

The guy was on bail for murder. He had 50 chargers of sexual assault on him.

For all we know it could be suicide by cops.

That might meet the accepted definition of a "terrorist act" if the robber intended to donate the proceeds of the robbery to a church or to the poor.
