I'd like to send a sensitive file to a friend, in the tens of MB size range. We're both behind NAT, and I don't want to upload it to my web server as it's not secure. Is there any software available that would make this easy?

I looked at bittorrent sync, but it doesn't look like it's super easy to set up. Still reading though, maybe it'd be suitable.

timmmay: I didn't try setting BT Sync up, the tutorial I read looked a bit of a pita. So it's pretty easy then? I consider txt secure enough given it's not online, i'm not sending national secrets.

Well you install it on your machine then choose a folder you want to sync and generate the secret key.
This can be any folder you like and you can create one just for this sync.
You can create/share as many different folders as you like, all with their own secret keys.

Get your friend to install BT Sync, then they choose any folder where they want the file/s to sync to and instead of generating a key they insert the one you give them.

You can give them a read/write secret key, meaning if you add/change/delete a file/s from the folder it will sync to your friends folder and if they do something in their sync folder on their side then those changes will sync back to your folder as well.

Or you can give them a read only secret key which means that only changes made on your side will sync to their folder and anything they do with file/s on their side don't sync back to you.

I set this up for an older couple just the other day and they got it so that tells me it is easy to use.
No firewall rules or anything like that to muck around with either.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
