I bought some nice leather wool lined slippers in November, around 6 months ago. They were $80, which is relatively expensive for slippers, though I got a second pair half price. I wear them just about every day, only ever inside, mostly on carpet but we have a few tiles and some lino, for 2-4 hours per day, just wandering around the house.

I noticed today the back of the heal is worn through. The rest of the sole is worn, but not near as much. It's a very soft rubber sole. The upper looks as good as new.

Given it's only been just over six months do I take them back and ask nicely for them to be replaced, or do I figure that six months wear is ok and either chuck them out or pay for them to be resoled?

I went into Hannahs, who were good. They said it's not a fault, it's worn out because of the way I walk... that part sounds like BS to me. Of course the heel will wear out first, followed by the forefoot, that's where it touches the ground. I suspect the sole is made of a material that's too soft - it is a very soft rubber.

The lady was really nice, said they'd either do a courtesy one time replacement like for like no charge, or I can try something different. Nothing else fit so I got a replacement. All in all I think it's a pretty reasonable response and I'm happy with it.

Since the new pair will do the same thing I'm going to get some soles from ebay and attach them myself, something like this perhaps.
