Went to pick up a bit of rubbish out of our garden today -- oops, it is a courierpost card to call.

The card is damaged and the date/times are illegible so it is likely that it has been there for a while. I was expecting stuff from friends overseas and a couple of online purchases, but delivery times are unpredictable this time of year.

Thats OK, i'll just call courierpost....they are all on holiday. Fair enough, they need a break too.

No prob, I can read the tracking number from the card to call, i'll just use their website, courierpost.co.nz

"tracking number not found"

The card to call says they return goods to sender after 10 business days. I wonder if they cancel the tracking number after this happens?

Our Courierpost delivery person always puts our card to calls on the ground outside our front door, i was going to complain to them about this but never got around to it.

They are simply too lazy to put it in the letterbox, where it would be secure.

Not the first issues with courierpost though, they are probably least reliable service in my area.

[EDIT]  I am so annoyed because so many things went wrong.

First, they put the card in a place where it gets blown away very easily.

Next, the card is poor quality and degraded so i cannot read the date.

They are not manning their phones today, which being one of the biggest courier companies I would expect.

And, their website is not accepting the tracking number.

They really are the bumblekings .

I think the big problem with courier drivers in NZ is that they're all independent contractors. They don't get an hourly wage they get paid per parcel ( last I heard it was 50c ). On top of that they have to pay for their own vehicle, insurance and clothing. That means there's no incentive to take that extra 30 seconds to walk to the door with no penalty for non delivery. They need to "deliver" as many parcels as possible to make any money. They essentially lose money on residential deliveries. Until this changes there won't be any improvement.
