Hi There!
I consider myself a pretty considerate driver, and I try as best I can to make allowances for other vehicles on the roads, including Motorcycles, but just recently I find myself increasingly irritable at the dangerous way I see Motorcycle riders behaving on the roads. I am not sure how much of it is legal, but regardless it seems to be dangerous.
Examples would be riders riding up the middle between two lanes of cars often for extended periods of time, or driving BESIDE cars in their lane which seems suicidal to me. Recently I was approaching the Kaimai's and there were 8 riders behind me. They obviously wanted past, so I pulled to the side despite the fact I was doing the legal speed limit to allow them PLENTY of room to find they blow past me, and then on double yellow lines, pass the car in front of me and then RIDE the yellow lines to pass the car in front again, despite oncoming traffic!
The problem I have is that an accident could easily happen, it was wet, it's narrow and if they get into an accident, the impact of that isn't just on them, but everyone involved.
I have a friend who was involved (Not responsible in any way) in a fatal accident, he just isn't the same as he used to be.
Scooters are almost as bad, some of the things I see daily is terrifying.
I actually know a couple of riders, and perhaps they aren't typical, but they are so arrogant about the road and other drivers. They obviously complain bitterly about the treatment they get on the roads, but I certainly don't see as much of that as I do of rider stupidity.
