I remember a few years back i seen on on CBS news site that scientists tracked on sonar a large moving object in the pacific ocean they estimated the object was at least 2 miles in diameter and moving at very fast speeds deep under the pacific ocean, they never figured out what it was it was too fast to be a large school of fish was not temperature currents as they can show up as large blobs on sonar, to large to be anything made by man and to deep to send in a team of experts to go and investigate. They tracked it for a few days then it disappeared.

Curious! Be interesting if there has been any more developments since then though.

The stuff they talk about with equipment not working near it seems a bit far fetched to me, but I pride myself on having a reasonably open mind about things, so am not going to throw my hands up and call it fake based on one or two comments.

It could also be that they diving in SALTWATER, which has a freezing point of around -2 or lower depending on the pressure or depth........

Unless the mupperts are useing Fahrenheit - brine freezes at 0 Farenheit, normal water at 32 F, seawater somewhere inbetween depending on actual salt levels...

I wonder if they took a geiger counter with them. High enough radiation from whatever it is might've killed their camera.

If they all develop cancers over the next couple of years, then that'll be a good sign...

Interesting post.

As professionals you'd like to think they know about water salinity and pressure and freezing, though maybe the set of circumstances and unanswered questions has them a little spooked.

I'd certainly like to learn more as they do.
One thing I took from this however is this: If we accept that there is some kind of anomaly that's effecting 'electrical/electronic' equipment and devices, then surely there's a case for retaining conventional photographic imaging (film) and perhaps other old-school analogue sampling techniques rather than consigning them to the detritus created by the digital-world.

The Baltic Sea is very low salinity, only about 15-30% (depending on where one is) or so of that of average seawater. So I suspect freezing point is close to zero in much of it.

There is very little mixing through the straits to the North Sea as they are mostly blocked off by the Danish islands. Used to be a fun hovercraft service between Copenhagen and Malmo run by SAS but there is a bridge there now, would be less than 20 km I would think but has an island in the middle which partly blocks the flow, and gets much narrower further North, maybe less than 10km. The other strait through the islands, which I am not familiar with is about the same width and also has a bridge across it as far as I know.

I predict even analogue technologies would have failed here.

I'm predicting the whole thing is a temporal anomaly caused by the quantum possibility - of a future discovery channel contract resulting in multiple camera shots and spooky music before giving a geologist five minutes at the end to explain - yes - it is a natural phenomenon.

Given the said failures - it is very mysterious how part of the object is clearly shown in camera shots in the linked video. Amazing!

The time frame in those articles is confusing, but the official website has a clear timeline on it. They are due back on 21 July 2012. I expect it will turn out to be rock, like the 'sunken city' off the coast of Cuba.
Edit: but I hope it is something more interesting, just not optimistic

I guess we may know more as time goes on. If it all goes quiet then i guess there was something they were not telling us.

The footage that they showed could also be stock footage. Im not saying that i beleive them, but you have to keep an open mind about these things!

The new island is about the same length as the tunneled part of the strait from memory, so Strait must be about 16-17 km wide overall there (roughly same as Cook Strait at its narrowest so maybe we could zap a tunnel under that, 4 lanes of traffic and a couple of rail lines

). As I said the Strait gets narrower further north.

While I did the hovercrafts a few times (small about 90 seat ones, and pretty much like an SAS aircraft inside, so more fun than the big ones), since the bridge went up I have only seen that from the air.

Given the rocky nature of the region my pick would be that the conspiracy theorist's UFO (or worse) will be really rock, but for them it will be proven as a UFO and if the authorities don't admit it, it will then be a UFO and a cover up

. So can see Ocean Team X selling piles of stuff from their online shop for years to come and laughing all the way to the bank
