I was in the local one today; they seem to have a number of good bargains to be had, within the limited stock remaining. Their last day of trading will be Easter Monday.

I'd imagine they would just move 99% of the stock to Noel Leeming.

Yeah, anything that ain't sold will be most likely flicked over to NL's stock.

I saw a full page ad in the Herald about this sale. Warrantys will be honoured by Noel Leeming.

Although I agree with sbiddle. The discounts won't be amazing because it's not as if they have to get rid of the stock, they can just pass it the closest NL store.

Might take a look at the local store if i get the chance and see if there is anything decent.

I'm wondering where there is a Bond + Bond store right next to a Noel Leeming if they will just knock down the wall between them and supersize

Not necessarily back to back / sharing walls but they are normally within close proximity of each other.

I thought they would do that here in Tauranga but they are still having closing down sale.  Here they share same physical address in an ex countdown supermarket that had a wall built dividing them

Had a peek today. Nothing astounding IMO. No different to any other weekend sale. Wait for the Easter sales I reckon.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

There's actually a link on the Bond & Bond website re: how the store layout will work...
I wonder how it will work in Christchurch's Westfield Mall where you already have a Noel Leeming and a Bond & Bond... yet they will now have two in the same mall, within 50 feet from each other?
Anyway, here's the list.

A summary of the merger is as follows:

Twenty four Bond + Bond stores and one Noel Leeming store are affected.
Eight Bond + Bond stores will become Noel Leeming stores. They are: Auckland’s Queen St, St Lukes, Botany, Lynnmall, Albany, Manukau Mall, and Christchurch’s Riccarton; and Dunedin’s George Street.
Four Bond + Bond stores will be combined into expanded Noel Leeming stores. They are Wairau Park and Manukau Super Centre in Auckland, and Tauranga and Christchurch’s Moorhouse Ave.
Twelve Bond + Bond stores and one Noel Leeming store will close. The Bond + Bond stores to close are Auckland’s Lincoln Centre and Southgate, Te Rapa, Hamilton, Hastings, Napier, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Dunedin’s Crawford St and Invercargill. In Auckland, Noel Leeming Botany will relocate to the Botany Bond + Bond site to create a new Noel Leeming store.
Two new Lifestyle stores will be created at Noel Leeming Moorhouse Ave and Wairau Park.

bond and bond was *inside* the st lukes mall, noel leeming across the road in the super/mega/whatever centre.

i wonder if there will now be two stores in close proximity... the bond and bond store in the mall was pretty tiny.

They are right next door to each other in the Manukau Supa Centa (yeh, that's how they spell it) and they already swap stock. I went in to NL once to get something and the guy had to go next door to B&B to get it.

[edit] the strikethrough formatting does not seem to work for me...
It shows up when I edit, but when I post it is gone.

Yep I'm surprised by this as well, the existing Noel Leeming has got to be at least twice size of the B+B and is in a higher foot-traffic area, so I thought closing the B+B would have been a no-brainer.

Looks like quite a few of the B+B's in Westfield malls are being converted to additional NLs, perhaps the Westfield leases are particularly expensive to break

I wonder if on their last day of trading (Monday 1st April?) They will have massive discounts (Bigger than whatever is being offered now). If its not listed on the price I'm sure haggling would be very easy. I'm sure they would rather sell everything than move it all across.

Can't hurt to try to haggle 'em down a bit. Wink

Went to the wairau one. Waste of time. Even after their savings Logitech kbds and mice were more than pb. Only slow usb sticks on display. Minimal savings on tvs. Headphones were 40%off but only cheap and nasty ones were on display.
