I have just moved house and have a bunch of broken down boxes that I no longer require. Does anyone know where I can take them to be recycled? I could week by week put them in the small recycling bin we have but I'd be doing that for months and it wouldn't leave much room for anything else. So that isn't ideal.

Any suggestions are welcome :)

Our council now charges for recycling, so we just put ours in our normal bin these days. They say there is heaps of capacity at the landfill. But with cardboard, you can also compost it, or put it in the ground and it will break down.

If you are in Wellington you should have a stonking Black and Yellow recycling wheelly (sp?) bin,

The small green crates are only for glass now.....

For large cardboard that doesn't fit in the bin I just leave it outside (with the bin) and the guys pick it up.

The Porirua rubbish station (close to Kenepuru) has an area to dump (for free) recyclables - paper, glass and plastic across from the Trash Palace.

Have a chat to a proprietor at your local mall.  They generally have skips for flattened cardboard that gets uplifted by recyclers.  Have disposed of numerous flattened boxes this way - or alternatively, utilise the recycling stations about the various areas

I would be careful about that. You can get fined by the council for dumping. There was a warning in our local paper about people leaving recyclables on the curbside if they didn't have a contract with a recycling company.

It's not dumping it putting out cardboard that doesn't fit into the tiny little recycling bin that they provide. If they left it I'd just put it in the car and take to the recycling station at the tip.

Put them on freecycle, or on trademe for a buck reserve. You needed them you moved, are you the only person who is moving house in Wellington at the moment? I'd bet not :)

Hi there, do you still have the boxes? Can I have them? Not the broken ones.  Cheers Heena
