Hi - I'm looking to get some firewood (for the first time) for a Waikanae property. Looking for any recommendations for reputable firewood suppliers in Wellington/Kapiti? Want to avoid cowboys who short deliver, or deliver non-seasoned wood. Thanks in advance.

http://www.firewoodsupplies.co.nz/ are very good BUT their prices are high compared to most. In fact I had to consciously switch suppliers after several years with them. I think they come over from Masterton area so I guess delivery prices are the killer.

If you are in Kapiti ring these guys http://www.kapitifirewood.co.nz/ good prices and good wood. I got mine from them last year. This year they said they ran out last year so are sticking to their Kapiti area only (Im in Porirua). Was a bit gutted.

Stay away from Ablaze, only ever got wet/rubbish wood from them (but it was mid-winter to be honest).

-1  for heat pumps = horrible artificial heat, zero ambience and reliance on double-digit annual electricity price increases
+1 for log burner = lovely natural heat, wonderful ambience and less reliance on the national grid.

(-:
