I have an Epson Artisan that seems to have blocked heads. I've run a half dozen head cleans but no change. I use a continuous ink system, but when I put the original cartridges in I have the same problem.

I haven't been able to find a way to manually clean the heads. Does anyone know if such a thing is possible? I don't mind if there's some risk involved as if it doesn't work I'll need a new printer anyway.

Hi,

If the print heads are on the cartridges and the ink has dried and blocked the print holes, here's a trick you can try, put walm to hot water in a soucer and dip/hold the cartridge print head in the water till you can see some ink coming out freely, light tap dry with paper towel or something.

This has worked several times for me with cheap printers that have not been used for a long time, best way to prevent it is do a test print once every 2 weeks if seldom used.

Warning->, this may work or stuff up print cartridges and the print industry will say no don't do it, but we all know how they work when it comes to the price of ink.

I don't know where the blockage is, but since I've tried the CIS and the ink cartridges I assumed it was blocked in the bit that fires ink at the paper. The trick would be getting them out of the printer.

Just had a quick look at , separate print head to get at, a bit harder than I had with print heads on the cartridges, maybe try youtube for help if you have the time and prepared to pull to bits and not worried if you stuff it up completely, good luck.

Thanks, found a pretty useful video on youtube here by a firm that sells cleaning kits, here. I'll give it a go once I managed to get them or something similar shipped over to NZ :)
