Me thinks yes, no question. Pay back points he took from Hamilton.

I won't say yet why I think this, interested to see other F1 fans comments.

i thought so but only after mr brundell suggested it BUT ...

that was wayy to spectacular to throw a race. i would have just slowed down 0.1s per lap and made it appear hamilton was quicker and then get caught on turn 1.

Rosberg is very consistent, to make two missed turns at the same turn, and appearing to have been able to make it doesn't make sense. Sir Jackie Stewart though so too.
After each controversial race there is an angry Mercedes driver, not that day.
Rosberg was happy and relaxed, Hamilton was happy and relaxed, Lewis wasn't even overly excited, as if it was a known, and I got some stolen points back.
Niki Lauda said Niki should be happy with the points for second.
Straight after the second missed turn when he lost the lead, Camera went to Toto Woolf. Nary a reaction.
Toto Woolf had said there will be a reaction to Rosberg last action that cost Lewis.

So, I feel that what happened was devoid of the reactions you would have expected and some comments seemed a little marketing orientated. Scripted, but thats ok, team orders are allowed, but why they allegedly fixed the result (as they are allowed to do) was better to act it out to satisfy the internal requirements of Mercedes, given Rosbergs past actions, and avoid public backlash.

Just my opinions

I reckon its better to be as fast, then make a mistake and lose, than to be seen as slower and lose for that reason.

The official explanation offered by many is Rosberg succumbed under pressure. Possibly. But then they raced 4 seconds apart the rest of the race, how can that be?
Was Lewis racing real hard and Niki matching him? How did Nico suddenly improve? And luckily he could only improve to exactly Lewis's pace? Or was it that Lewis was racing to a pace and Rosberg "matched" that too!

Sure its all conspiracy theory, but to me, it sticks out as a different in race and post race situation. I'm not bothered, but I find it super interesting, all the complexities of F1 and the drivers, teams, and race officials. Its a very political and money orientated sport, fascinating

i think the likelihood depends on how likely a car would sustain damage if it hit the polystyrene barriers ...

if damage is zero then i agree with you.

if there is risk of damage, it really doesn't make sense ... unless i don't understand nico.

(how do you explain the first "off" when lewis was not around to pass?)

A pre cursor? If there was a big lockup, thats more believable, but then he is stuck with a vibrating tyre.

He rarely makes those types of errors, last one was at Monaco, in quail, when he brought out a yellow flag, stopping Lewis from attempting a last lap pole. Maybe an irony in that!
