After seeing This thread in the "Health and fitness" forum about a politician who signed a pro homoeopathy online petition. It Got me thinking "there needs to be some sort of min standard that politicians should have to pass". Before they can get into Parliament.

So here is an online test of 13 multichoice questions about scientific concepts.

http://www.pewresearch.org/quiz/science-knowledge/

Hoping that most Geekzoners get full marks or close. You will see why I picked this particular test. Due to 1 of the questions it asks.

13/13 (15/15 if you include "what is your gender?" and "what is your age?"). Interesting to note that more education gives higher scores. Most of these questions should be general knowledge. I wonder if the older folks received better scores.

13/13 everything in that test was taught at school at some point, also I have a vague recollection of a very similar thread from quite while ago and everyone seemed to be getting 12s and 13s. I expect very similar results this time around too ;)

13/13 although some questions are more general knowledge than science really.

0/13. I wanted to see if there was a prize for getting none correct. There wasn't.

13/13

The majority of these questions are primary school level general knowledge, surely... a few would require a bit more of a clue, though.

People on average did quite well on questions relating to health (UV, red blood cells, AB resistance), yet poorly on questions related to physics or the natural world (nitrogen, fracking, electrons).

Question number 11 (drug trial) 75% of people got right.
The question was "better way".  The correct answer would not be a good method to throw doubt on homeopathic methods - it would be a very poor method.

13/13. Thought I may have buggered up the nitrogen one - I have got that wrong before by over thinking it. Went with my gut this time.
Pretty easy questions though.

Although, based on the stats given at the end it was the second hardest question... makes me feel a little better (but just a little)

13/13. It's amazing that only 7% of respondents got all of these high school-level questions right. Now, excuse me while I go and drink some hydric acid.
