I do like some of the styling, as I can see hints back to the original trilogy in there.  It never made sense that they had all these fluid terminator 2 shapes in the prequels and crashed back to some retro square designs in the originals.  If JJ can control the urge to lens flare everything and shake the camera constantly, then it might gel better than the prequel series ever did.

Might be pretty good. I hated what Lucas did with episodes 1, 2, 3. Ok, well 3 was a lot better.

As long as Jar Jar doesn't appear at all!

More of a teaser trailer than anything, but enough there to raise my excitement level a bit.

Benedict Cumberbatch as the bad guy again? Didn't he play the same on Star Trek? Do we need more lens flare?

By the way, the trailer in the OP is the real one.

Some media fell for a hoax and posted this fake as if it was real:

NZtechfreak: More of a teaser trailer than anything

That's probably why it's called "Official Teaser" :)

Heh, missed that as most everywhere I had seen was referring to it simply as a trailer.

Lens flare? You want lens flare?
Lens Flare

(Edited because I couldn't get the damned YouTube video to embed in this post.)

Not a fan of the voiceover guy whoever it is, but it ain't Cumberbatch.

The rest of the trailer - well the best bit for me is with the Falcon and the TIE Fighters - and the X-Wings.

it's one of those trailers that has been rushed out to meet demand/expectations so I imagine most of it is very early CGI and practical effects touched up for the trailer itself - how much of it ends up in the final film remains to be seen.

Similar to the Jurassic World trailer with the entrance gates that everyone is talking about right now - apparently that's total CGI for the trailer where in the film it will be replaced with practical effects.

Wish these filmmakers and studios would just wait until they have a polished product before releasing trailers.

I think PJ is one of the worst for that actually.

I don't play a lot of games.

But I used to play a lot of X Wing. A lot. This could be fun ... Or boring... :)

One thing that mega urked me on the review was the colour grading of the 'white' storm troopers in the ship.  Now it may all be in context, with the lights in that area being aqua, but we shall see.  Rates well up there with the lens flares and shaky cam these days.

They are proper old school white on the planet so I hope that stays, but to see another blue/green in the shadows and orange tan for people faces would drive me nuts.

Example 1

Example 2

Also, why does the 'new' lightsaber look like a fire sword instead of a lightsaber?
