These sort of stupid suggestions from those in power really highlights what a bunch of muppets they are, especially when it comes after recent incidents like this

Perhaps I should start my own religion that allows me to legally carry my own ceremonial dagger, I choose a Tanto thank you.

I'm starting a religion as well, it is exactly like Atheism except we all must carry Glock 17s with a full mag +1 up the spout

I think I will call it Glock O'clock

Nah! Just pick a old Norse religion and say you need to have your axe with you at all times! Then start expanding on your chosen religion/cult and claim that the gods demand that you MUST go out pillaging .. would make trips to Pak n Save far more exciting! ;-)

Having said that, When you and your ancestors have done something for hundreds of years and then the whole world goes into a panic because of some extremist nut jobs I get why you might feel hard done by.

I'm talking about the planes really, although they are supposed to carry the dagger to protect innocents... maybe they should sharpen it up a bit

I would be all to happy for them to carry daggers provided regular citizens were allowed to import and carry pepper spray, something is pretty wrong when a minority group can use religion to allow them to carry what is clearly an offensive weapon, yet the natural born citizens of NZ are restricted in all manner of a having any form of self defence device while going about their daily business.

Mind you if you were on a flight with a bunch of guys with daggers, and then a pile of snakes invaded the plane, I bet you wouldn't be so opposed to them then, you need to think about the positives.

And this proves legislation solves nothing - the UK has ludicrous restrictions on knife ownership and carry.

One (which we also have) forbids automatic opening knives. There is no logic when the knife minus the spring mech is perfectly legal, yet making it open itself is somehow 'more dangerous' or 'more offensive' despite the blade not changing in any way at all. It's actually quite useful to have auto knives sometimes when your other hand is occupied holding the item you want to cut, for example.

Even knives with locking blades are illegal to have on your person in the UK.
