Really impressed with Noel Leeming on this one.

I went in there the other day to buy a new phone, an S4. After looking around for a bit I found that dick smith was
the cheapest at $500 or thereabouts. I noticed that dick smith had them out of stock so I went across the road over
to noel leeming and asked if they could price match it. Just my luck, the only one they have in stock is a display model.
However, this was a display model that was just on display (not a display model that gets touched and used).

So I go ahead and buy it at a pretty good price: $415. I was told if there's anything wrong with it to give them a ring and
they'll order a new one in and I could keep the display model one until the new one arrives.
And just my luck, there is something wrong with it; the SD card slot doesn't recognize any SD cards. So I ring them up, I'm
greeted by a very polite kiwi phone-rep and she forwards me on to the Invercargill store. I explain my situation to them and
I'm told to go down to the store and show that the phone doesn't work.

I get to the store, show the phone and I'm in and out very quickly. And just like that, the next day there's a brand new S4 in
the store with two free $35 cases waiting for me. Just to add to everything else, it turns out the S4 they ordered in was an i9506 model,
which for the people that don't know, is slightly better than the i9505 model that I got in the first place which is what is usually sold in
stores; also more expensive.

So all in all, I am very, very pleased with Noel Leemings customer service and overall friendliness and speed with this matter.
It may cost a little more since it's a brick and mortar store, but it's definitely worth it if you are worried that you'll have a problem with
your product and you fear that you may need to return it.

TL;DR: Bought a slightly used s4 for cheap, got a better s4 and free cases for no extra money.

Awesome. I have had good customer service from them whenever I've bought anything.

Nice! The Snapdragon 800 is a significant upgrade to the 600, enjoy your freebie.

Also just for the record, they only have to price match if the identical item is in stock, so for them to go over and beyond even though they were out of stock at the competitor is really fantastic.

They also gave me fly buys points even though its countes as aged stock.

My theory is that quality of service and shopping experience in nationwide chains like Dick Smith and Whticoulls varies according to whether you are in a big city or a regional centre.
I found this very noticeable after moving from Wellington to Wanganui. Shop staff are more pleasant here.

Definately, I used to work for one for 3 years, bigger stores have a bigger rent and significantly more emphasis on conversation (they have cameras watching you enter, and will tally that vs sales = conversation rate) this creates a desperate atmosphere if the conversation rate is bad as the manager in the back office (whose bonus etc is tied to convetsion rates) can get quite stressed, which easily translates to the staff on the ground.

Rainy days working in a mall were the worst, our conversation rates sucked due to to the window shoppers..

I've had the opposite experience visiting the regions.
