A few days ago I received a spam email from a NZ company. While this is rare, it has happened before and I expect will happen again.

What was unusual about this email was in the name section it showed both my name and my Mother's. This was significant in my mind as only Yellow Pages has ever referred to us in this manner. I'm talking Yellow Pages customer contact information, not published company contact information.

I have contacted Yellow Pages and have not heard back within the promised time frame.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Spam is a rare things from NZ Companies these days but it still happens.

http://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/wpg_URL/Services-Anti-Spam-Enforcement-Action-in-2015?OpenDocument

The best thing to do it complain to the Government Department which looks after this type of thing.. (http://www.antispam.govt.nz)

Are you saying you think Yellow pages sold your email address/Your Name to someone else (which I am 100% they didn't) or a Spammer took your information from Yellow Pages and linked this to an email address they spammed you with?

Do you want given a example of what they actually sent you?

Have you contacted the heating company asking for an explanation?
Where they got your details from and to give proof that you gave them permission to send the email to you?

Also to Note.. The Heating Company International (Ltd)  is a stuck off company (and so is The Heating Company) so I have no idea what Company is "running" things now.

Is Trading as "The Heating Company International" (No Limited) when the previous stuck off Company was called The Heating Company International Limited even Legal?

Looking at things is seems they might be a dodgy company.. (If they are a real company now).

Complain to the DIA as soon as possible.

Maybe The Heating company International want to comment on all of this.. give them the offer to :-)

Also complain to mailchimp . The Heating company international maybe broken their T&C for spamming you.

Yes. The response, like all the others before, can best be summed up as:

"blah blah blah blah blah we don't know how it happened blah blah blah we changed ISP blah blah blah blah".....

If they have no proof that you gave them permission to email you (for any reason) then complain to the DIA.

They don't know how they got your email address and contact details. hahaha. They have your email address and your Name. They must know how they got it.

You could claim the Privacy Act 1993 and ask them for any information they hold about you and they legally have to give it to you.

I got that same email for that same organiasation. It was sent via mailchimp so I submitted a report through that. I certainly never signed up to it.

The Heating Company is "RM & CE Limited trading as THC International".  Companies office excerpt: http://www.business.govt.nz/companies/app/ui/pages/companies/2110056.
