As mentioned in the thread "What I shot today" in the Digital Imaging sub-forum, Geekzone has lost a valued contributor and member in a motor vehicle accident.

Talented photographer Riley Baker passed away yesterday (Monday August 15th), two days after his motorcycle was hit by a car on Saturday August 13.

Our condolences to his partner Amy McCarthy, family and friends.

Rest in peace "RileyB", you and your wizardry with photography will certainly be missed by many members of Geekzone, including myself. Such a talented person and according to reports, an all around top guy.

ETA: Here is Riley's flickr collection for those unfamiliar with his work:

RIP indeed.

There is a driver who has been charged in relation to RileyB's death and people may have strong views about this matter and related issues generally. Can we please keep things nice?

Absolutely agree, this thread is not the place to pass judgement. Let's leave the trial to the right people to deal with.

Very sorry to hear this. I never had the pleasure of communicating with Riley personally but I did enjoy his photos. Also my condolences to his family.

Something worth bringing up amidst the very sad events - Riley's organs have been matched to seven different people according to one of the articles. It's certainly no silver lining per se for his family and loved ones but he and them collectively have given a lot of hope to many other people.

Housewife computerer: not particularly great at either.
And don't take me too seriously.
