What the h...lol is up with Rocket Lab?

Did you see the pic in the Herald, with the USA flag on the base sitting 'ontop' of a smaller silver fern.

What a joke! This is from the country that told him to bugger off, and refused to help or even acknowledge his efforts.

Now Rocket Labs in bed with them and the US flags all over it.

Didn't they win a NASA contract around a year ago?

Rocketlab is about as kiwi as phar lap.

Main investors:

Khosla Ventures
Bessemer Venture Parthers
Lockheed Martin
K1WI limited (90%) owned by Tindall
And don't forget Callaghan Inovation; Crown entity

Doesn't even have a NZ website,

www.rocketlabusa.com

'In December 2010 Rocketlab was awarded a US contract from th Operationally Responsive Space Office (ORS) to study a low cost space launcher to place nano satellites in orbit"

Who is ORS?

The Operationally Responsive Space Office (ORS Office) is a joint initiative of several agencies within the United States Department of Defense (DoD). The "stand up" of the office took place 2007-05-21 at Kirtland Air Force Base.[1] The first director of the ORS Office was Col. Kevin McLaughlin, who was also dual-hatted as commander of the Space Development and Test Wing located at Kirtland. The ORS Office focuses on providing quick-response tactical space-based capabilities to the warfighter utilizing smaller satellites, such as the Tactical Satellite Program and smaller launch vehicles.

Organizations that have been involved in ORS activities to date include the United States Army, the United States Navy, DARPA, the National Reconnaissance Office, the Missile Defense Agency and NASA.[1]

Col. John Anttonen took over as Director of the ORS Office in February 2013.

Good our tax dollars are going to good causes, being funnelled into dirty little projects like this and being lauded as kiwi!

Not even allowed to launch from New Zealand without FAA say so!

Good on them getting some success for this. Will taxpayers get a monetary return on their investment via the Callaghan thing?

The Americans told them to get lost, as he wasn't to be trusted. Only Americans' can be trusted with information pertaining to aeronautical business.

But they since realised that they can control this little venture and even use it to their advantage, running military hardware into orbit from good old 'trusted' New Zeand. Hopefully no one will blink an eye.

It's the outright lies I don't like, and the BS being printed in the press about it being a great kiwi venture. And now being totally controlled by the Americans for mostly Military purposes. And if you think it's not, then wow you need to wake up and look what is going around you.
