I've started getting interference on FM radio. Not sure exactly when it started as I've been overseas for the last few weeks.
It happens every half hour or so (but not exactly).
It's some rhythmic buzzing, followed by a series of clicks. Always exactly the same. It lasts about 5-7 secs.
The only time I've heard anything like it came through the car radio when driving near the main Heathrow Airport radar years ago.

There's no big radars near me apart from Devonport navy base a couple of streets away, but would the ships be using high powered stuff when they are tied up alongside?

Is anyone else in Auckland experiencing the same thing?

Has anyone got any thoughts on what it could be?

GSM (2G) does this.

Radars are normally swept so I would expect something every few seconds.

More likely a gcsb bug.
Where were you overseas?

Wrap your house in tinfoil sealed

Seriously, it sounds like GSM. Look for a phone which has dropped back to 2G nearby, or a GSM alarm "dialling" home etc.

Don't feed my paranoia!

(Madrid, UK, Vienna. I'd highly recommend Vienna if you like: A proper snowy Xmas, mulled wine, friendly English-speaking locals, cheap fantastic beer served all day, sexy disturbing death-obsessed art by Schiele and Klimt, big portions of hot food with lots of gravy, desserts with lots of cream and custard, strong white wine, excellent signage, good coffee taken seriously, and smartly dressed people with no obesity)

Every 30 minutes, could it be a smart power meter transmitting reading on 2G?

My smart meter transmits once a day, around midnight, according to the installer. Sounds like a cellphone to me as well.

It aint the navy, we are all off on xmas break.

all the navigation radars are safe to use in harbour (X or S band) so 2-12 GHz so way way way above what your radar recieves.

The bigger air search stuff we are restricted from using that in harbour and even close to land.

The only thing that could come close to causing you interference would be the radios but they are all difference frequencies to your AM/FM radios, and even then we test for any sort of mutual interference.

TL;;DR its not military radar or radios causing your issues
