Anybody know where I can buy a power strip with a long cord? The cord should be at least 4 metres in length. Surge protection a bonus.

I have an awkward office setup where the desks can't be moved closer to the power outlet. And plugging an extension cord into the power strip isn't a great idea.

Surge protection in a powerstrip is not a bonus. Its a lets make this thing fail faster feature to get repeat sales.

Also no issues with them on extension cords. The problem comes when people plug stupid loads into them and overload them. If its to reduce the burden of test and tag in your workplace so its one thing instead of 2 things to tag then you could look at some of the ones builders use, they are in the same situatiuon with having to pay per item so want to reduce the number of things.

I needed one like this a while ago. I wanted a multi box with switched sockets and a lead of about 3 metres. I bought a switched multi-box and an extension cord the right length cos too much cable is a PITA.

Then i cut the socket off the extension lead and opened the multi box to use the extension lead as the feed in . It was a bit of a faff but i got exactly what i wanted.

Are you 'handy'?

It's certainly not a bad idea.
