I've done one in Queenstown and one in CHCH, we did the Queenstown one the day after i proposed to my girlfriend and the lady did say the rooms make or break relationships as you have to work as a team to be successful. Thankfully we passed the test haha

I have done 2 of the Queenstown Rooms and they are a lot better than the first one I did a few years ago in Sydney.

I would recommended the Queenstown one as it is well set up.

Thanks for the post. TIL what that game is all about:

"An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape....Find the hidden objects, figure out the clues and solve the puzzles to earn your freedom."

For office plankton, locked in the corporate world 5 days a week - sounds like a familiar game, doesn't it?

"Think, solve the puzzle, earn your freedom.."

Unfortunately for many involved in that "real life game" (aka employment) the freedom is earned from 5pm to 6am next morning when the game starts all over again :-)

Ah yes.. what an escape game is..

You are normally locked in a room and the idea is to get out using clues/items etc in the room within an hour.

For example find key in drawer
Key opens lock on a briefcase which has a few pieces of papers in it.
Using a ultra-violet setting on torch (which was in the room at the start) see another number on one of the pages which opens a safe.
Safe contains a magnet on a string.
String can be used in the Room for a certain task..

Then it gets hard...

An example of a full room escape is at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xp3TyTFkSmw

Which you can see the types of things you will come across. That room is quite an easy room IMHO but some are a lot harder.

Would love to try this out, did not realise we had a couple in Christchurch , will organize a session for the staff who would like to try it. I love this sort of fun.

There's one in Palmy (looks like a branch of one of the Auckland ones) which I haven't been to (but am keen to try when I get the time):

I have tried this one. I quite liked it, we did the one with identical rooms (race to finish first) - theme was Superheroes. They have various levels, (Easy, Medium, Hard and Extra Hard). We went with Hard and managed to finish it (with clues).

I've done both

Escapade NZ                     http://www.escapadenz.co.nz
Break and Escape               http://www.breakandescape.co.nz

and can recommend both - Break and Escape was a bit different in that it actually involved moving furniture (ie revealing a trap door etc) which I hadn't experienced before.
