Ok, time for a bit of a rant today.

Background:

Purchased iPhone 5 off 1-day last year for the wife.

Power button became loose just before easter this year, so organised repair under warranty with 1-day

Sent the phone back, waited 3 weeks and was told "sorry, phone can't be repaired, we will issue a refund"

I asked to have the original phone back (as i would repair it myself since it was almost out of warranty). Was told phone was not able to be found so this was not possible, but they would see what they could do, and they would cancel the refund for now.

Week went by, still no word on what was going on.

Bit the bullet and asked for the refund to be processed and purchased a new iPhone instead. Sent through bank account details - sorted (or so i thought)

2 weeks pass and new phone arrives (yay happy wife!)

Check bank account - no refund in my account.

Followed up with 1-day and was told that they didn't have my account number, so sent it through again.

Got an email from customer service apologizing for the delay and offered a $20 voucher as well (sweet, that was nice of them)

7 days pass, still no refund. Followed up and was told that they would email me with an update (that was yesterday)

Today - no email (getting very annoyed now)

Followed up with Live chat again, and was told they were on the phone to accounts, then the live chat system crashed out and looks like it has died!! ARGH! (checked on separate internet connection - still no go)

Has anyone else had issues with a refund through 1-day?  Or am I just cursed with a horrible cycle of running around by their team?

#UPDATE# looks like live chat is back online now.

I have a friend who bought a "new" Samsung S7 off 1 Day a month or so back; the battery died that first night, and afterwards the phone was never able to be switched on. That "new" phone appears to have been a (poorly) reconditioned one at best (they initially claimed the box was opened so they could swap out the charger for an NZ one; but apparently there were scratches on the screen - this and the dying indicate something a bit more substantial!). A couple of weeks later I believe he's still trying to extract a refund from them.

Nothing like the run-around you've been given (yet!), but these kinds of stories confirm my decision to avoid buying more pricey goods from the site.

Yeah, their team said that refunds are normally fast and easy, but I take that sort of information with a grain of salt!

I have pushed to get their team manager to contact me, which she has now.  Fingers crossed that it will be resolved today!

My mum bought a iPhone off 1Day and the mic is faulty causing really bad audio quality. I am guessing they are refurbished by someone thats not Apple so morale of the story is might be best to not buy iPhones off 1Day.

I always figure refurbished is ok, especially since there is a 1 year warranty applied to them so you are covered. It is always a risk to keep in mind when buying something labeled as refurbished.

I wouldn't always trust them either ...

Aren't they at least part owned by the warehouse these days?

Personally any problems with products I have had with them, they resolved to my satisfaction. So I would buy from them again, although I haven't purchased anything really high value, the most expensive being a gun safe. This was good except the first one was courier damaged. But the staff arranged a replacement, and they were really helpful. Some people may not like that they don't have anyway to phone them directly, but as long as email communications are good, that can be a good thing.

Sorry, I meant Apple Certified Refurbs - don't assume they're awesome.  Or maybe I've watched too much Louis Rossmann
