NASA has had to deny that it is operating a secret child slave colony on Mars! This is the claim of some moron who was a guest of Alex Jones on Infowars, Alex Jones of course being that bastion of journalistic integrity who kicked off the phony story about Hillary Clinton running a paedophile ring from a pizza shop.

This would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Presumably sane and functional people actually believe this kind of nonsense. The white noise of mindless trolls is destroying our capacity for intelligent discourse. Fake news has become a kind of tsunami and it will drown us all.

Three things come to mind reading this sort of rubbish...

1) Common sense is not so common (Voltaire)

2) Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people (unknown but popularly attributed to Mencken)

3) We should read every "news" story with the skepticism we usually reserve for articles published on April 1st.

Cheers - N

ps. BTW, that's exactly what you'd expect NASA to say if they _DID_ have a child slave colony on Mars...

“There are no humans on Mars. There are active rovers on Mars. There was a rumor going around last week that there weren’t. There are,” Guy Webster, a spokesperson for Mars exploration at NASA, told The Daily Beast. “But there are no humans.”

Maybe another country has snuck humans up there while NASA was sleeping. They can't definitively declare that there are no humans there, only that they're not aware of any!

I'd forgotten all about that ad!

Doesn't Trump have a golf course there?

Maybe the kids are used to retrieve golf balls lost in the craters.

The obvious answer is it's China. All that one-child policy was just a front; children number 2 to N were being shipped off to Mars to work in sweatshops making iPhones.

Personally, I'm disappointed. I was hoping to pick up a good deal on a martian slave child.

You think you're disappointed?    I was hoping to pick up some extra cash by selling mine into martian slavery!

And what's more, they had to build the sweatshops 3x the height of earth sweatshops, so when despondent child slave labourers jump, the result was as assuredly final as it is on Earth.
